There is serious excitement in Dublin about Westlife performing a couple of hits before the main event.

They were here earlier today for a two-hour soundcheck - determined to get every note absolutely right before a packed Croke Park.

My colleague Kaitlyn - surname withheld to protect her from the backlash - had no idea who Westlife were. She is only 22, so we were prepared to give her some leeway.

Then she did some research and doubled down. “One-hit wonders,” was her verdict.

Thumbs up if you agree with Kaitlyn. Thumbs down if you don't.

Tell you what, my social media has been absolutely riddled with videos and tributes to Katie Taylor.

Some of them have almost got me to even shed a tear or two!

I'm sure there won't be a dry eye in Croke Park tonight.

From fighting in the first sanctioned women's boxing match in Ireland back in 2001 to selling out Croke Park tonight, it's been quite the journey for Katie Taylor.

There's been an incredible buzz not just in Dublin this week, but all over the island of Ireland. Many would consider Taylor the best Irish sportsperson of all time and they have shown up tonight to show her just what she means to Irish sport!

Nowhere more fitting to close out her career than back where it all started, right here in Dublin!

The walk to Croke Park really was something else.

Chants of “Katie Taylor” rolled down the streets, which were flooded with green and white - shirts, flags, scarves and, it has to be said, plenty of pints.

Inside, Croke Park was around half full by 19:30, with plenty of fans still outside squeezing in one last beer before heading for their seats. .

By the time Taylor makes that walk, this place is going to be absolutely bouncing.

"I even drove to Croke Park earlier just to see all the people.

"Seeing this place packed is something that I have dreamt of for years. I'm about to make that ringwalk in a couple of hours.

"I'm going to enjoy every single moment. It's such a privilege, I'm pinching myself.

"I'm just going to be myself in there. Hopefully, I box smart. Hopefully I box to my best. All the hard work has already been done. I'm just going to go out there and enjoy myself."

So, Paddy Donovan has just had his hand raised in the middle of the ring after the doctor decided Tyrone McKenna was fit to carry on due to a bad cut on his eye.

What Katie has done as well as breaking down those barriers in a literal sense, getting women’s boxing into the Olympics, and headlining Madison Square Garden.

Those are facts, but what she has done, which you can’t put on paper is how she changed people’s perceptions of women’s boxing and that’s as massive as those factual historical things that she has done.

Bantamweight Molly McCann beat Sylwia Doligala in only her fifth professional boxing fight to continue her unbeaten run.

The 36-year-old won by unanimous decision, 80-72, 80-73, 79-73.

She has also beaten the likes of Kate Radomska, Ebonie Cotton, Beata Dudek and Ashleigh Johnson.

The Liverpudlian - a former UFC flyweight - is moving through her boxing career quickly after retiring from mixed martial arts.

It's been a throwback buzz around Dublin this week as you just know something big has engulfed the city.

While life moves at an unrelenting pace, the subject of Katie Taylor's final farewell has dominated discourse around Dublin and beyond.

Just making the short walk into the stadium, there was former pro Matthew Macklin who insists he couldn't miss this night; as did former Ireland rugby international Darren Cave.

Each express their appreciation for Taylor's career and insist they simply have to be here. They aren't alone in those sentiments.

This is it, then.

After Olympic gold, world titles, undisputed crowns and some unforgettable nights, Katie Taylor will make her ringwalk one final time tonight.

Taylor can sign off by becoming undisputed champion for a third time if she beats Flora Pili but tonight is a lot bigger than belts.

There is a real sense of occasion around the city. Irish flags, nervous smiles and plenty of emotion have filled the streets all week.

We’ll have cheers and we’ll have tears. With 80,000 packed in and a nation watching on, this promises to be one of those nights that lives long in the memory.

This is it. Katie Taylor says goodbye to the sport of boxing in front of more than 80,000 adoring fans at Croke Park.

Tonight promises to be emotional as we look back at a true hero of boxing as she bids to become a three-time undisputed champion.

But looking to spoil the party is the undefeated Flora Pili.
