For me, the question wasn't whether Amy was going to do something like that - it was could anybody else be better than she's been. Well, the answer to that was no.

She comes through in first in 22.38 seconds, starting strongly and storming round the curve before easing off a fair way from the line.

Jael Bestue of Spain progresses in second in 22.69, while third-placed Boglarka Takacs of Hungary moves into one of the non-automatic qualifier chairs with a season-best 22.77.

Now it's Amy Hunt's turn.

The world silver medallist waves to the crowd before returning to looking pretty locked in.

As we go through the other athletes in this semi, a word for Mujinga Kambundji who finished seventh in the first race in 23.81 seconds - she only returned to action a month ago after giving birth last November.

We have always got to remember Asher-Smith has won a world title at this distance.

From 20m she coasts, looked very comfortable. Never write off someone who has won so many medals.

It's exactly how Charlotte Payne is going to want to start in this final - just get a mark out there, then it'll really give her an opportunity to grow through the competition.

As we know, the top eight will get those extra three throws, so for her, it's a great start.

After two rounds Great Britain's Charlotte Payne is sixth in the 12-woman field. Silja Kosonen of Finland tops the standings and has just extended her lead to 76.28 early in the third round.

There's always drama in a hurdles final isn't there? But for Sam Bennett, what a fantastic run.

He didn't get out particularly well, but he held his form really strongly through the latter part of the race. A fantastic, well-deserved personal best.

He's so smooth over the barriers as well. His technique looked flawless throughout this race.

Sam didn't falter at all and that was a fantastic run into the final for him.

It's time for the women's 200m semi-finals - are Dina Asher-Smith and Amy Hunt on the path to further European glory?

Having won her first major title on Monday in the 100m, Hunt returns to her first love, the 200m, and has spoken of “a happy renewal of our vows” with the event after posting faster times in training than she did before winning world silver last year. Hunt has a realistic chance of four golds at this championship if she wins here and in the mixed and women's 4x100m relays.

Asher-Smith won this title in 2016 and 2018 and her tally of eight European medals is only bettered by the 10 of Polish ex-sprinter Irena Szewinska.

European under-23 champion Success Eduan, 21, beat Amy Hunt to the British title in June. Meanwhile two-time reigning European champion Mujinga Kambundji of Switzerland only returned a month ago after giving birth last November.

Two qualifiers from each race go through automatically to the final on Thursday and they will be joined by the next two fastest runners from across the semi-finals.

What I loved about that was all the action was around him, but he didn't stress.

He just kept the formula going, which has been a very successful one this year. A very solid performance.

Elie Bacari falls while out in the lead!

The Belgian athlete had pulled ahead from the pack but clipped the seventh hurdle and hit the deck hard.

He doesn't appear to be badly hurt, leaping up and shouting in anger.

Jason Joseph of Switzerland and France's Thomas Wilkes take the two automatic final spots with times of 13.48 and 13.50 seconds respectively, while no-one else troubles the non-automatic fastest qualifier slots.

Tade Ojora was right in the mix until the fifth and sixth hurdle.

It's a messy first race, with plenty of hurdles being clipped, and Great Britain's Tade Ojora crosses the line in fifth in 13.48 seconds.

Frenchman Just Kwaou-Mathey, who has a sub-13 personal best, takes the win ahead of Milan Trajkovic of Cyprus in the two automatic qualification spots.

We move to the track for the first time tonight with the three men's 110m hurdles semi-finals.

Great Britain's Tade Ojora and Sam Bennett, who won silver at the Commonwealths, go in the first and third race respectively.

France's 2022 bronze medallist Just Kwaou-Mathey is the fastest entrant this year with a time of 13.20 sec. while Spain’s Enrique Llopis and Swiss record holder Jason Joseph earned European silver and bronze respectively in Rome two years ago. Meanwhile Poland’s Jakub Szymanski is the reigning world and European champion indoors.

Two qualifiers from each race go through automatically to the final at 21:45 BST and they will be joined by the next two fastest runners from across the semi-finals.
