Image source, Getty ImagesEven after a brief watch, fans will notice significant changes at the Ultimate Championship.
A bright pink sandpit and a pitch black infield. Win percentages flashing up on screen, and sparklers lighting up the dark backdrop as athletes pose with their brand new trophy.
The appearance of the arena is immediately striking. An infield painted black is designed to direct the audience's focus to the illuminated live action.
On TV, the use of augmented reality, athlete headshots, win probabilities and projected finishing positions for each event have been introduced to enhance the viewer experience.
For their crowning moment, athletes lift their trophy from a plinth beside their competition area before heading to a winners' enclosure in the stands, where they have been joined by the likes of Usain Bolt and Noah Lyles.
But not everyone has been invited, with long-distance track events and certain field events excluded entirely.

A bit of fun there between Dambile and De Grasse. They were just looking over their shoulders at each other.
De Grasse is running really well. The final is going to be a quick one.
Men's 200m semi-finals
They go quicker still in the second of the men's semi-finals!
And they have fun doing it, too.
South Africa's Sinesipho Dambile clocks 19.80 seconds to take the win, but he and Canadian Andre De Grasse exchange looks across the lanes as they ease down towards the finish line, having already done enough to be sure of making the top-four positions.
That should be a great final at 19:38 BST tonight.

As someone who has been to Diamond League and World Champs both in the UK and abroad I was sceptical about the Ultimate Champs but I have to say they have really delivered. So provided the format is a biennial exception rather than the rule - big thumbs up!

Anna Cockrell just went too hard. You have to run the race right here and Jasmine Jones judged that perfectly. A really good start to the evening and a good crowd in here tonight.
Men's 200m semi-finals
While the men's javelin competition gets under way on the black infield, it's time for the men's 200m semi-finals.
Olympic champion Letsile Tebogo and silver medallist Kenneth Bednarek headline the first semi-final.
And it is Bednarek who makes a bit of a statement as he cruises to victory in 19.86 seconds. Impressive.
Another American, Courtney Lindsey, is second, with Tebogo not expending any extra energy as he comfortably qualifies in third.

The sport's new event has been introduced to provide a pinnacle to a season which otherwise would have lacked a global championship.
But that is just the tip of the iceberg - more on that shortly.
Athletes are competing for the biggest prize pot in the sport's history at the Ultimate Championship, with a total of $10m (£7.4m) on offer across three days of action in Budapest.
It is hoped that the condensed, innovative format will help shape the sport's future.
Women' 400m hurdles final
The first Ultimate champion on the final night of action in Budapest is American Jasmine Jones!
Jones clocks her fastest time of the season with a 52.45-second run to beat Slovakia's Emma Zapletalova to the $150,000 top prize.
Fellow American Anna Cockrell has to settle for third.
