"Kenya Airways PLC ("KQ") confam say on Tuesday, 06 September 2026, our flight from Nairobi to Lagos experience medical emergency on board around 21:20 hrs local Nigerian time. One of our passengers bin dey unresponsive approximately 20 minutes bifor landing for Lagos," di statement tok.

Di airline say wen di plane land for Murtala Muhammed International Airport, medical personnel bin dey on ground and dem confam say di man don die.

"We convey our deepest condolences to di family and friends of di deceased and apologise for any inconveniences dis incident fit don cause. We uphold and respect di privacy and dignity for all involved.

"Kenya Airways dey provide di necessary support in close coordination wit di deceased family, local authorities, and aviation regulators," di statement add.

'E claim say e im get mental issue'

One Nigerian content creator simply identified as Lola say she bin dey inside di plane wen di incident happun and say tins fit don go wrong but God save dia lives.

She narrate wetin happun for her Instagram page wit di handle the_neene on Wednesday, 7 October.

"One passenger try open di door on my flight back to Lagos yesterday, e claim say e im get mental issue and I just tink evrione wey dey fly gatz dey assessed in advance. I no sure how e go dey possible but dem gatz do am becos dis fit don go horribly wrong but thank God for our lives," she tok.

She say she bin first tink say na fight bin dey go on as di man dey waka up and down and pipo begin tell am to calm down.

Lola claim say di man in question say im wan see pilot and if im no see pilot im go open di door make im kpai.

"Evribodi just charge towards am at dis point. Di men take di blanket, cabin crew bring di seatbelt and dem hold am down. At dis point, you fit see di fear for im eye as im dey say, 'I no dey open door again, I no dey open door again.' You fit see di fear for im eye, and I tink dat na wen e dey unconscious.

"Becos eventually wen we bin dey about to land, di cabin crew try to prepare di cabin for landing and dem realise say e dey unconscious. Dat na wen dem try to revive am, dem do CPR, dem bring di defibrillator, e no dey responsive. We even tink say e dey pretend so dem go fit untie am, but e no dey pretend," Lola tok.
