    EasyJet says some of its flights are "unable to operate" following the technical issue affecting air traffic controller Nats.

    "A Nats Air Traffic Control system failure this afternoon is unfortunately causing delays to flights across Europe with some flights unable to operate," the airline says in a statement.

    The airline adds that it will do all it can to minimise the impact to customers, such as providing those on flights unable to operate with their options, including a free transfer or refund, and meals and hotel accommodation for those who require them.

    Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander has posted saying she's "aware" of the technical issue.

    "Technicians have identified the issue and are fixing it as we speak," she posts on X.

    "I know this will be frustrating for passengers and I'm sorry. Please check with your airline for latest advice."

    Flights departing the UK have been disrupted by an air traffic control "technical issue", the air traffic control group Nats says.

    Nats says: "We are investigating a technical issue which is causing some disruption to flight departures.

    "Our engineers are on site and we will provide an update as soon as we can.

    "We apologise for the delay this will cause to journeys, passengers should check with their airline on the status of their flight."
