    Wolverhampton Wanderers centre-back Santiago Bueno has left the club on loan until the end of the season to join Mexican side Club America.

    The 27-year-old Uruguay international joined the club from Spanish side Girona in August 2023 on a five-year deal and made 70 Premier League appearances across three seasons.

    Last September, Bueno scored his first goal for Wolves in the 1-1 draw with Tottenham and played 29 times in the league last term as the club were sent down to the Championship following a eight-year stay in the top flight.

    He did not feature for Wolves at the start of this season and has signed a loan deal with an option to buy at Club America who currently sit top of the Liga MX table.

    "This was our most difficult move of the whole window due to the circumstances," technical director Matt Jackson told Wolves' website., external

    "We were aware that there were open markets which may suit Santi after our deadline, and when we had too many players for the 25-man squad, it was unfortunately him who missed out."

    Swansea City boss Vitor Matos has been named the Championship's manager of the month for August.

    The 38-year-old helped his side take seven points from their opening three games of the season last month.

    Matos was appointed Swansea boss in November 2025 and has won 17 of his 38 games in charge.

    Charlton's Nathan Jones, Cesar Peixoto of Wolves and QPR head coach Julien Stephan were also nominated for the award.

    Promotion favourites Wolves will aim to end a two-game winless run in the Championship when they visit Sheffield United on Sunday (12:00 BST).

    Cesar Peixoto's side have dropped from second to 11th before the weekend's fixtures after a 4-2 defeat at West Ham and 2-2 draw with Birmingham.

    The Blades picked up their first two league wins of the season in the space of a week against Bolton and Blackburn, with a 3-1 home loss to Norwich City sandwiched in between.

    • Sheffield United have won three of their past four home league games against Wolves (L1), most recently a 2-1 Premier League win in November 2023.

    • Wolves have won three of their past four league matches against Sheffield United (L1), keeping a clean sheet in all three wins in this period.

    • Sheffield United have both scored and conceded in 14 of their previous 15 Championship games at Bramall Lane, the exception being their 0-0 draw with Birmingham in August.

    • Wolves' three away games in the Championship this season have all had at least four goals (7 for, 7 against). Indeed, they are just the third Championship side since 2004-05 to both score and concede 7+ goals in their first three away games of a season, along with Crewe in 2004-05 (7F 7A) and Blackburn in 2012-13 (9F 7A).

    • Sheffield United have faced the most shots of any side in the Championship this season (103), while they've recorded the fourth-highest non-penalty xGA (10.15).

    Charlton Athletic boss Nathan Jones, Swansea's Vitor Matos, Cesar Peixoto of Wolves and QPR head coach Julien Stephan have been nominated for August's Championship manager of the month award.

    Jones led Charlton to the top of the table with three wins from their opening three games.

    Swansea made an unbeaten start under Matos with their seven points including victories over Stoke City and Derby County.

    In his first season in charge of Wolves, Cesar Peixoto also started with seven points from the first three games of the campaign as they seek an immediate return to the Premier League.

    QPR have made an encouraging start to the new season and went through August unbeaten with Julien Stephan overseeing away wins at Portsmouth and Blackburn Rovers.

    The winner of the season's first award will be announced on Friday, 11 September.
