Oxford United have given a week's trial to former Tranmere Rovers centre-back Luke Waterfall.
The teenager, who spent time on loan with Blue Square Premier rivals Altrincham last season, was released by the Merseyside club in June.
"We have had a recommendation about him and I have seen him a couple of times in reserve team football, " United boss Chris Wilder told BBC Oxford.
"We will have a look at him for a week and take it from there."
