Grace: £125m seems an awful lot of money for Enzo Fernandez. Enzo Maresca must really rate him for the club to pay this amount of money. It is hard for me to separate the person from the player so think he has a lot to prove.
David: Who are fans to disagree? If the manager wants him and the club has the money then it's a no-brainer. Adds bite and goals to our midfield. I'm chuffed with the signing.
Ian: Awful signing, what are the senior management thinking? He will completely disrupt the dressing room. What an appalling decision. Lost a lot of respect for the chairman.
Andrew: Generally excellent signing, but Fernandez was very expensive at £107m and he is now three years older. The old gag 'expensive at half the price' applies. This is a Maresca signing and good to see the club backing the manager but if one Enzo fails, the other does as well. Begiristain would never have agreed.
Salah: This is a baffling transfer. I don't see how Enzo is needed in this team, and the transfer fee is ridiculous, considering the money could have been used to strengthen other positions. I look at this transfer as Maresca simply having a soft spot for Fernandez. I believe Enzo wanted to go to Real Madrid, and when he found out they didn't want him, he was simply desperate to leave Chelsea.
Christopher: Fernandez may well be a good player, but recently City have avoided contentious players like him, rather the professional, get-the-job-done steel mentality. I don't think he'd fit into a Pep squad, but ultimately, it's no longer a Pep squad.
Brian: Man City have done the right thing at the right time to rebuild a winning squad and rebuild confidence with and from the fans. These new signings are mainly position specific and that will deliver success on the field. We have a midfield now that has the capacity to hold and retain whilst supporting our wingers and forward line. Possession football will hopefully provide more goal chances this season. A new manager with a mission to win big style. Bring it on.
Toby: It's not his ability that's the problem, or even the price tag - it's his attitude and history. The fact he filmed himself singing racist lyrics after the Argentina win is enough to make me never want him at the club, let alone the addition of his on-pitch theatrics and poor disciplinary record. He's a crisis waiting to happen, balanced on his own fragile ego.

Iliman Ndiaye says joining Manchester City "is the chance of a lifetime" and he is "determined to grab it with both hands."
The 26-year-old Senegal winger has signed from Everton in a four-year-deal worth up to £56m.
"I've worked my whole life for an opportunity like this," Ndiaye said. "City are one of the best clubs in the world and I've seen them win everything as I've grown up.
"To be able to write my own chapter in a story that special is the chance of a lifetime and I'm determined to grab it with both hands.
"It's not always been easy in my career, but I always had the belief that I could play for a team challenging for the biggest prizes and now I'm here. It feels so good.
"I love to play with the ball on the floor in an attacking team that wants to score as many goals as possible. That's why I know this is the perfect fit.
"City fans can rest assured that I will give my all to bring more success to this incredible club."

Enzo Fernandez is a man who costs a pretty penny.
His transfer to Chelsea from Benfica in 2023 was worth £107m, and his impending move to Manchester City is £18m more than that at £125m - a joint-British transfer record.
So, when completed, he will have cost over £230m in his past two moves and will become the first ever footballer to complete two £100m+ moves. That is a decent bit of money.
However, he brings with him a wealth of top-level experience.
At only 25, Fernandez has already racked up 285 league appearances across the Argentinian, Portuguese and English top-flights, as well as playing 49 times so far for his country.
He has won the World Cup and Copa America with Argentina, as well as major silverware in every country in which he has played - most recently winning the Club World Cup with Chelsea in 2025.
Across his entire career he has only missed 14 matches through injury and has acted as Chelsea's vice-captain since the summer of 2024.

BBC Radio 5 Live's Monday Night Club discussed Manchester City's late move for Chelsea's £120m-rated Enzo Fernandez, despite already signing midfielders Elliot Anderson and Ayyoub Bouaddi this summer.
"He is a player they have been looking at all summer, yet they have decided to negotiate with less than 24 hours of the transfer window left," said The Observer's Rory Smith. "It is nonsensical.
"I don't think he is worth £120m, despite being a really good footballer. I get that Maresca trusts and likes him - he obviously has a profile he thinks he needs - but they have already signed Anderson and Bouaddi.
"They can afford it with their revenues, but I don't understand why they are moving for him now and not in July when his price was exactly the same."
Former Premier League striker Chris Sutton added: "It is about having the strongest squad to give them the best possible chance of challenging. The money really doesn't matter."
Former Liverpool defender Stephen Warnock agreed, stating: "If your director of football is saying 'I can give you this player' then you don't need to care about the fee.
"The fee is irrelevant as long as the club has agreed to get the player through the door."

Pep: Pep had stated previously that he felt the overall squad was too big. However, we have lost players in key positions without really replacing them. My biggest concern is the lack of depth in defence, Ake, Akanji and Stones gone and no new defensive players brought in. We need one more, I believe. We appear to be looking for a replacement for Marmoush, which is wise.
Roger: I'd like to to see another striker, left-back and right-back come in. A true creative midfielder is essential.
Sam: So far, City's signings have looked promising. We just need a proper replacement for Marmoush, given the departure of Grealish is also highly likely.
David: We still need an international right-back and left-back. We need a steady defence (up front is fine).
Harry: We still need a winger/striker back-up for Haaland. We also need two or three more midfielders minimum, alongside a right-back to support Nunes after seeing Khusanov at RB fail horrendously.
Liam: We are still in desperate need of a specialist right-back. We can't keep putting square pegs in round holes. Also, if we are going to bring in a central midfielder, I'd love to see Alex Scott from Bournemouth - but would take anyone rather than Enzo Fernandez!

Manchester City have opened talks with Chelsea in their bid to sign midfielder Enzo Fernandez.
In what is set to be one of the key narratives on transfer deadline day, City have set the wheels in motion towards what would be one of the most expensive deals of the summer.
It is understood Chelsea want a minimum of £120m for Fernandez and talks are under way as both clubs negotiate a price.
Fernandez, 25, worked with City manager Enzo Maresca during the Italian's reign at Chelsea.
Maresca is keen to work with the Argentina international again, while Fernandez is open to a move to City.
It now remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree a price to unlock the deal.
If the clubs can reach an agreement, the deal is expected to be completed rapidly, with personal terms not an issue.

Manchester City have agreed a deal worth up to £65m to sign Iliman Ndiaye from Everton.
The clubs reached an agreement on a deal worth a guaranteed £60m plus a further £5m in add-ons for the Senegal winger.
The news comes after Tottenham agreed deals with Everton on Friday night for Ndiaye to join the London club, with Richarlison moving the other way in a separate transfer.
However, sources are indicating Richarlison failed to agree personal terms with former club Everton, who are understood to have made a £35m offer for the Brazil forward.
As a result, Tottenham have been unable to proceed with the Ndiaye transfer.
In an emotional statement on Instagram on Monday, Richarlison said: "After everything I've been through in the last few years, I've decided that never again will anyone decide my future for me.
"If they reach an agreement between Spurs and Everton, I will return to my beloved club.
"My intention was to go back to the place where I was very happy, yes, but the negotiations happened only in the way certain people wanted, and it will no longer be like that.
"Despite all this turmoil, I am under contract at Spurs and will remain at the club's disposal."

Manchester City writer Simon Bajkowski from the Manchester Evening News joined BBC Radio Manchester's Mark Crossley and ex-Premier League boss Phil Brown to discuss the arrival of Allan Elias and a remarkable transfer window.
"They last few days of the window will be huge, they're bringing in the winger Allan Elias but they need at least two more," said Bajkowski.
"I think Enzo Fernandez is going to be one of them - I think he'll be Enzo Marseca's man. He's bringing in his general, probably the guy to become one of the captains for City this season.
"But then they need more on top of that, whether that's Ndiaye or Cody Gakpo. It's going to be an eventful few days."
