Burnley boss Laws doubtful of Fraser Forster switch

Burnley boss Brian Laws says the club's loan pursuit of Newcastle goalkeeper Fraser Forster may be on hold because of injuries at St James' Park.

The 22-year-old was lined up for a temporary switch to Turf Moor but Laws told the club website the deal was unlikely to go ahead at this time.

"We understand Newcastle's predicament," Laws said.

"They can't let Fraser leave until they have assessed that situation, we're waiting to see how that develops."

Laws also revealed the club would consider further options to provide cover for Danish keeper Brian Jensen.

Forster missed Saturday's 3-0 friendly win at Carlisle, and is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Magpies despite a string of loan deals.

"There has been dialogue between the two clubs and the two managers," Hughton told BBC Newcastle after the victory at Brunton Park.

Forster was an integral figure in Norwich City's League One title win last season, playing 42 matches in all competitions during his season-long loan spell.
