Lincolnshire have appointed Paul Cook as their new captain. Cook, 23, replaces Oliver Burford and follows in the footsteps of his brother Rob, who previously gave up the role to pursue a career in rugby union. The county's director of cricket, Mark Fell, told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "What we were looking for is someone to be captain for the next 10 years. "Paul was the obvious choice. He's enthusiastic and we want him to put some of that passion into the side." Following Rob Cook's departure to play professional rugby union for Cornish Pirates and Burford's relinquishing of the role at the end of the 2009 season, Paul Cook becomes the county's third captain in two years. "That situation's not ideal," added Fell. "Some of these lads need a kick up the backside. They can sometimes get in a comfort zone and hopefully Paul will be the right choice to sort them out."
