Oxford United chief executive Tim Williams has stepped down from his role at the club.

Williams was appointed by in September 2022 and the club achieved promotion to the Championship via the play-offs in May 2024.

After they stayed up in their first season back in the second tier for 25 years, Oxford were relegated back to League One in April.

"After four years leading the club, I felt this was simply the right time for me personally to step back and hand over the reins to a new leader," Williams told Oxford's website., external

Oxford United have confirmed that assistant head coach Craig Short has left the League One club alongside his brother Chris Short.

Craig Short took interim charge of the U's on three occasions in his six years at the Kassam Stadium, most recently for a period after Gary Rowett's sacking that included a 2-1 win over Southampton on Boxing Day last year.

Chris Short had two spells in United's backroom staff as head of sports science, first joining Oxford in 2018 and returning in 2022 after a spell away.

"Everyone at Oxford United would like to thank Craig and Chris for their years of dedication and professionalism," the U's said in a club statement., external

"They depart with our sincerest gratitude and our very best wishes for whatever comes next."

Oxford United boss Aaron Ramsey said his side "stood up to the test" as they came out on top against Stevenage to claim their first three points of the League One season.

The U's opened the scoring in the second half when Gatlin O'Donkor found the net before Cameron Brannagan added a second from the penalty spot.

Stevenage scored late in added time but Ramsey's side held on for his first victory as United boss.

"It was a really tough place to go to but [it was] a test that we stood up to," Ramsey told BBC Radio Oxford.

"Particularly in the first half we knew that we would have to be on it from an out-of-possession point of view and I thought we were brilliant, we defended the box superbly.

"That gave us the confidence and the platform to take the game to them in the second half and I felt we really had control of the game then."

Stan Mills was playing for the first time since Ramsey said that he has agreed to join Preston North End in January.

The 22-year-old came off the bench and provided the assist for the first goal.

"The reception that he got [from the Oxford fans] was really pleasing and Stan deserves that," Ramsey added.

"He's been a player of high quality over the last few years and he deserves that moment with the fans today."

Oxford are next in action on Tuesday, 1 September when they face Huddersfield away in League One.

Rotherham United have signed experienced striker Tom Bradshaw on a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old was a free agent after leaving Oxford United at the end of last season.

The former Wales international has scored 115 goals in 473 career league appearances.

Bradshaw, who becomes Rotherham's ninth summer signing, could make his debut for the League Two side in Saturday's Carabao Cup first-round tie against West Bromwich Albion.

His deal includes an option for another year, although the club have not disclosed whether that is in their favour or the player's.

Mikael Mandron will join Stevenage on a two-year contract after leaving St Mirren, the 31-year-old striker's switch to Oxford United having collapsed following their transfer embargo. (Mark Hendry on X, external)
