Chelsea have announced that teenage defender Honest Ahanor will join the club in 2027 after spending the rest of this season on loan at Crystal Palace.

The Blues have agreed a deal worth up to £40m to sign Italy international Ahanor, 18, from Atalanta.

But he will not arrive at Stamford Bridge immediately.

Instead, Ahanor is set to join London rivals Crystal Palace on loan from his current club before officially becoming a Chelsea player next summer.

Chelsea first expressed an interest in Ahanor, 18, when they signed right-back Marco Palestra from the Serie A side in July.

He mainly plays at left-back and joined Atalanta from Genoa on a three-year deal last summer for a reported fee of 16m euros, plus 4m euros in add-ons.

He made 28 appearances in Serie A for Atalanta last season, establishing himself as a regular starter. He also made his Champions League debut in a 2-1 win against Club Brugge last September.

Chelsea have done the following business on transfer deadline day:

• Atalanta's 18-year-old Honest Ahanor has signed in a deal worth up to £40m and will officially move to Stamford Bridge next summer.

• Striker Marc Guiu has joined Bundesliga side RB Leipzig for £14.6m, including add-ons.

Serie A side Roma deny any formal offer has come in from Chelsea for midfielder Manu Kone.

He is clearly a player of interest to the Blues but Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini issued a statement blocking it on Monday night.

However, the Blues have made a £38.5m offer to sign Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara.

The move is part of Chelsea's plans to replace Enzo Fernandez, who is closing in on a move to Manchester City before the transfer deadline for a fee of about £120m.

The Stamford Bridge club's willingness to sanction the sale is contingent on a replacement being found, and talks with Monaco are set to continue.

Monaco may also be in a stronger negotiating position after agreeing a £40m deal to sell striker Folarin Balogun to Everton.

Chelsea striker Marc Guiu has joined Bundesliga club RB Leipzig in a deal worth £14.6m, including add-ons.

The 20-year-old, who signed for the Blues from boyhood club Barcelona in July 2024, made 29 first-team appearances during his time at Stamford Bridge.

He registered 10 goal involvements in total, with six of his goals coming in the club's Conference League-winning campaign in 2024-25.

Last season, Guiu joined Sunderland on a season-long loan - making three appearances before being recalled 25 days after his arrival.

The Spain Under-21 international was training away from Chelsea's first-team squad this summer amid expectations he would leave the club.

Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo is no longer expected to join Hull City on loan, despite recent talks.

The Tigers are instead set to sign alternative midfield option Tim Iroegbunam from Everton.

Essugo, a Portugal Under-21 international, is now likely to either stay at Chelsea or go to sister club Strasbourg to fill the final international loan spot available to the Stamford Bridge club.

BBC Radio London will be bringing you a special show on later on Tuesday examining the transfer business done by Arsenal, Brentford, Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Tottenham.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, former EFL and National League defender Jamal Fyfield and journalist Charlotte Richardson will be the guests in the studio for the programme, which will run from 22:00 to 00:00 BST, taking in the 23:00 transfer deadline.

Chelsea's transfer deadline day is complicated, with the club working through multiple scenarios, many of which revolve around the potential departure of Enzo Fernandez.

Several of those scenarios involve Fernandez joining Manchester City for a fee expected to exceed Chelsea's initial £120m valuation, which would help fund a replacement.

One of Chelsea's internal aims is to emerge from the transfer window able to argue that Xabi Alonso's squad has improved, even if the Argentina international is sold to a direct rival.

The midfielders known to be under consideration as potential replacements are Monaco's Lamine Camara and Roma's Manu Kone.

They also retain the possibility of keeping Fernandez and it is certain to run late, with the use of deal sheets probable.

There are also a number of exits being planned for fringe players.

Tuesday is the final chance of the summer for your Premier League team to do transfer business.

The window closes at 23:00 BST, so teams - and fans - could be in for a late-night transfer scramble.

Manchester City have opened talks with Chelsea in their bid to sign midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

In what is set to be one of the key narratives on transfer deadline day, City have set the wheels in motion towards what would be one of the most expensive deals of the summer.

It is understood Chelsea want a minimum of £120m for Fernandez and talks are under way as both clubs negotiate a price.

Fernandez, 25, worked with City manager Enzo Maresca during the Italian's reign at Chelsea.

Maresca is keen to work with the Argentina international again, while Fernandez is open to a move to City.

It now remains to be seen whether the two clubs can agree a price to unlock the deal.

If the clubs can reach an agreement, the deal is expected to be completed rapidly, with personal terms not an issue.

Chelsea have accepted offers from Tottenham for winger Mykhailo Mudryk and defender Tosin Adarabioyo, as well as a bid from Italian club Como for goalkeeper Robert Sanchez.

The trio are now expected to leave Stamford Bridge, subject to agreeing personal terms, with Spurs keen to secure Mudryk, 25, and reunite him with his former manager Roberto de Zerbi.

The Ukraine international has not played a competitive match since November 2024 but returned last month after serving a suspension for taking the banned substance meldonium.

Mudryk previously played under De Zerbi at Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk before moving to Chelsea for an initial £61m.

Spurs will also sign Chelsea defender Tosin Adarabioyo on a permanent deal to replace Kevin Danso, who is set to join Sunderland on an initial loan deal.

Robert: Buy Alex Scott ASAP. Buy back Lewis Hall. Sell Jamie Gittens, Wesley Fofana and buy Brian Brobbey or Igor Thiago.

James: The defence needs an experienced leader, which Chelsea missed out on with John Stones. While no obvious names jump out for that position, I do feel Emi Martinez joining solves the goalkeeper issue.

David: Chelsea need a top class centre-back and a back-up for Joao Pedro upfront. Why don't we play some of the fringe players? If they are coming through the academy, there must be players showing promise.

Babiker: The backline is not in a good stand. Fofana should be back and a good left-back should be found.

Chelsea have announced forward David Datro Fofana has left the club to join Swiss Super League side Servette on a permanent transfer.

The 23-year-old joined the Blues in January 2023 after having an impressive record at former Norwegian club, Molde.

Whilst at Chelsea, Fofana was loaned out on five separate occasions, and Servette will become the forward's 10th club.

Xabi Alonso will be concerned by his side's struggles to keep possession and their vulnerability from set-pieces.

Remarkably, Chelsea recorded 25.9% possession against Brighton, the lowest in a league match managed by Alonso across his spells at Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen and Real Madrid.

They also completed just 146 passes, Chelsea's lowest figures on record in a Premier League match.

That inability to keep the ball comes as Enzo Fernandez's exile from the first team entered a second match, with Manchester City expected to make a bid before Tuesday's transfer deadline.

The Blues also had concerns over Moises Caicedo's fitness, and he was forced off just 11 minutes into his substitute appearance.

Malo Gusto and Romeo Lavia started in central midfield, while Jordan Henderson was also unavailable through injury and Valentin Barco was seemingly not yet trusted to start a Premier League match.

It is no surprise Chelsea are exploring a move for Monaco's Lamine Camara and want to ensure a replacement is lined up should Fernandez join City.

A lack of midfield protection, coupled with a switch to a back three after largely operating with a back four last season, left centre-backs Wesley Fofana, Maxence Lacroix and Levi Colwill looking vulnerable at times.

Chelsea have scored a remarkable seven goals in their opening two league matches but they have also conceded five. They have now gone 18 games without a clean sheet, their longest such run since the 1960s.

In typical fashion, Alonso played down any concerns that his side almost threw away a three-goal lead.

"No, I would say it is quite normal," he said. "It happens in many teams, other teams that have played more games together."

Enzo Fernandez potentially leaving for Manchester City could open the door for fellow midfielder Lamine Camara to arrive at Stamford Bridge from Monaco as his replacement.

It could be Chelsea's 13th deal coming in, with exits exceeding 30 players as the Blues are expected to surpass the Premier League player sales record they set at £300m last season.

There is further intrigue around departures, with Mykhailo Mudryk looking for a loan move, and still a lack of clarity on the futures of Pedro Neto and Tosin Adarabioyo. The likes of Dario Essugo, Deivid Washington and Shim Mheuka could also leave.

Hull City remain in talks to sign Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo on loan.

Sources close to the Portugal Under-21 international say he would prefer a move within the Premier League to joining Chelsea's sister club Strasbourg.

The Tigers are expected to be active before the transfer deadline having had a move for Eintracht Frankfurt winger Jean-Matteo Bahoya collapse over the weekend.

Unai Emery has insisted that there are no "good relations" between Chelsea and Aston Villa after a series of transfers between the clubs.

On Sunday, Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez joined Chelsea from Aston Villa, completing the eighth deal between the clubs in the past four years.

Martinez's move to Stamford Bridge comes after Nicolas Jackson's transfer the other way last week.

No two Premier League clubs have exchanged more players, on permanent or loan deals, in the past four years.

But Villa boss Emery said the relationship between the two clubs is "only through the deals for money".

"Good relations?" he said. "They want to kill us and we want to kill them! We have good players and we can sign one player off them - it is not a good relationship, it is a deal for money and a deal for players.

"I'm happy for Emiliano Martinez and Morgan Rogers. I know I'm not happy for Chelsea."

A series of deals between the clubs began after Chelsea's owners BlueCo took control of the club in 2022 and signed Carney Chukwuemeka from Aston Villa for £20m that summer.

Ian Maatsen (£37.5m, to Villa), Omari Kellyman (£19m, to Chelsea) and Axel Disasi (a £5m loan deal, to Villa) subsequently moved between the clubs.

This summer alone has brought four more deals. Morgan Rogers completed a £117m move to Chelsea, while Alejandro Garnacho joined Aston Villa on loan with a conditional obligation to buy in a deal worth around £43m.

Jackson then moved to Aston Villa for £65m, before Martinez followed.

Since 2022, Chelsea have paid Aston Villa £163.5m for players - and Aston Villa have spent £102.5m on Chelsea players, including Axel Disasi's loan fee.

That figure could rise to £150.5m should certain criteria be met to make Garnacho's loan move permanent.

The recent volume of business between the clubs has not gone unnoticed elsewhere in the Premier League, at a time when both have had to navigate domestic and European financial regulations.

One source told BBC Sport that a number of club executives have raised questions about the frequency of the dealings. There is no suggestion, though, that either club have broken any rules.

Paul: Chelsea are brilliant going forward and a joy to watch. However, our defence and midfield are caught out of position and cannot read passes. We let in goals that can still be avoided. I know that we will improve in those areas soon. Hopefully my nails will grow back quickly. Arsenal next. Get a result against them and make my day.

Mike: Pleased with the start of the season and we look strong, with a clear direction. The board appears to now be listening.

Ben: Fantastic from a team that had virtually no midfield. Somehow Alonso gets four goals out of a team with 26% possession? Never boring being a Chelsea fan.

Tristan: The most important thing is that we got it over the line. But if we didn't, I'd be livid! Always doing things the hard way! When we were 3-0 up I expected the game to be done and we'd take those three points, but we had to put ourselves in a difficult position, didn't we? Yes, the three goals we conceded were a bit lucky but shouldn't have given them confidence. But we should take the positives. I'm really excited for this season, especially the front three we have. Not it's time for Arsenal!

Brighton fans

Martin: Brilliant display by Brighton after gifting a very poor Chelsea a three-goal lead. It was far too much to overcome but Chelsea were panicking the entire second half. It's going to be a great season for Brighton. Chelsea are just going to fail again.

Barry: Brighton didn't play badly at all. We started too slowly, but were much better in the second half and scoring three away at Chelsea shows the attacking quality is there. The problem was finding the right balance defensively and Chelsea punished our mistakes. We need to start games with the same intensity we showed after the break.

Steve: I absolutely hate losing... but this was definitely less painful. To have kept their heads up and relentlessly tried to get back into the game having conceded three early goals shows a huge amount of character and fight. This attitude will pay dividends in matches this season, I'm sure.

Merciless: Poor defensive display cost the Seagulls at least a point. Gomez needs to do better with the countless chances offered to him.
