A Hull City club source tells me that Burnley have made an offer for Ryan Giles but "an answer hasn't been given" in response to that.
Giles was, I'm told, on the club's list of players who were under consideration for being moved on prior to last week's Man Utd win.

These two sides are yet to register a league win between them in their combined opening four games of the season.
Burnley's point against West Ham on the opening weekend is all these two highly-fancied teams have to show for their efforts so far.
Norwich City have won just one of their past 12 league games against Burnley (D3 L8), their only win coming via a 2-0 home success in April 2022.
Burnley have won each of their past four league games against Norwich City across the 2022-23 and 2024-25 seasons and will be hoping for five successive victories in this fixture for the first time.
After losing their opening two league games this season, Norwich will be hoping to avoid losing their opening three league fixtures of a second-tier campaign for the first time since 1997-98.
Since 1 November 2025, Burnley have won fewer games than any other ever-present team across England's top four tiers, recording just a single win from their 31 matches (D10 L20).
Burnley have failed to win any of their 10 league games without Zian Flemming appearing since the start of last season (D3 L7), losing five of six away matches in that period.

Burnley manager Nicky Hayen admits it has become a matter of urgency for the Clarets to strengthen their strike force before the transfer window closes.
After just four goals in four games this season, Hayen says his side have to sharpen up in front of goal.
"It's a concern because we do enough to create chances and be in the box. We just have to be more clinical," Hayen told BBC Radio Lancashire.
"It's not only this season but also last season that our goal threatening was not enough.
"We're busy with offensive players because the goal threatening has to be higher. We need more competition for each other in the team. Everyone sees that it is urgent now."
Hayen, who succeeded Scott Parker as manager after Burnley's relegation from the Premier League, has a fight on his hands to win over the home support with the club on a run of 17 games without a win inside 90 minutes.
"The season has already started and not in the best way for us but we're really confident we can change things around," said the Belgian.
"If you see through the history of the club, always when we came back from the PL in the Championship we were struggling the first few weeks, then suddenly after one or two months we started and this is something that will happen again."
David: Should have been able to get a result but early spaces and pace couldn't be turned into goals. Inevitable how it finished because the team lacks desire and belief that they can be successful.
MK: Burnley will be swapping leagues with Bradford City come the end of this season. 17 games without a win wow. This is dire. Burnley manager isn't up for the job, 2nd choices normally aren't.
Brads: Very promising, moving the ball quickly. But the same flaws appear time after time. Very weak defensively, powder puff up front.
Gav: We're always poor in the cups against lower league opposition. That aside, right now we're double relegation candidates. The squad isn't good enough and I think the manager knows it. No player delivers consistently and that's what the fans are annoyed about.
Alan: Carrying on from last season. Can't score, can't defend. Only the quality of the opposition saving Burnley from total humiliation every game. A long season ahead with mid-table mediocrity the best fans can hope for.
Graeme: Same old story. When are they going to sign a striker? Broja was a stupid buy and has continued, on the odd occasions that he is fit, to prove his inability to even get close to the target, never mind score. Flemming wants out - and can't be relied on to hit the target - and Foster is, if anything, worse than Broja.
Carl: We have been missing a great striker in the last season. Having said goodbye to Josh Brownhill, Jay Rodriguez and Josh Cullen, it feels like the heart has gone out of us as well.
Steven: Was better than West Brom game for sure. We are just missing something at the moment. There were players playing last night who are nowhere near fit enough hence why we got worse as the game went on. It will come, stop booing please and get behind the lads. UTC
Paul - Super team effort, every player played well.
Russell - Great performance, especially to come from a goal down. It's a great start. We know there's a long, long way to go but we have something to build on.
Colin - Super energetic and disciplined display by the Baggies. Great to watch Isaac Price get on the scoresheet. Well played West Brom.
Nick - Best all-round performance I've seen in a long time. Didn't look panicked after going behind and the attack was beautiful to watch. Ousmane Diakite deserves special mention. His passing, dribbling, tackling and effort were all on display and his ball recovery reminded me of a decent player who drove his Mini to Leicester City. Very early and such a small sample size, but after a trying season last year there's so much to smile about right now.

Tom - Abysmal. Burnley should know by now that with only one goalscorer you are certainly dead in the PL and probably in the Championship too. Combine that with routinely gifting the opposition at least one early goal and you are likely to be facing relegation by the end of the season. The new manager looks an improvement but so would I have been.
Sam - Sad to see players pulling out of challenges and not working hard. Burnley's identity was once about running sides off the park and playing gritty, effective football. We've now accumulated PL and European academy prospects that don't have the fight or the nous to represent our club.
Hugh - Very worried by the reversion to familiar faces here - Josh Laurent, Jacob Bruun Larsen, Armando Broja. Kyle Walker maybe most of all - his pace is gone and that was his cheat code. His positioning, passing, and aerial ability just aren't up to it. Broja isn't interested and isn't any good anyway. I'd play literally anyone else up top.
Gareth - We gave the ball away cheaply, poor first touches, sloppy passes and we failed to win challenges. We made it easy for West Brom to come from behind and beat us convincingly. But at least we are now moving the ball forwards, rather than side to side and backwards (ie Parker-ball). But we still need to clear out the dross - Broja, Zeki Amdouni et al

West Brom opened the campaign with a 2-1 win at Norwich City while Burnley came from 2-0 down at home to West Ham to claim a draw at Turf Moor.
West Bromwich Albion are winless across each of their past seven league games against Burnley (D5 L2), since a 1-0 away win on matchday two of the 2017-18 Premier League campaign.
Burnley lost each of their first six away meetings with West Bromwich Albion this century but are unbeaten in their most recent four, drawing each of the past three (W1).
After beating Norwich 2-1, West Brom are looking to win the opening two games of a league campaign in successive seasons. Prior to that, West Brom had completed the feat just once since 1998-99 onwards (2017-18).
Burnley went unbeaten in each of their final 16 Championship away games en route to promotion in 2025 (W11 D5) and only three teams have had longer runs in the competition's history (since 2004-05): Leicester City (20, ending in Oct 2023), Hull City (17, ending in April 2011) and Reading (17 ending in Feb 2006).
Since the start of 2024, West Brom have won just one of their 14 league games against sides relegated form the Premier League the season prior (D8 L5), though are unbeaten across their last six at home (W1 D5).

I jumped from my seat. Punched the air. And screamed until my throat felt hoarse.
Burnley had scored a late, late equaliser in a pulsating game, with no VAR to destroy the joy, and the Turf Moor faithful had nothing to do but glance briefly at the flag and raise the roof.
It has been such a very long time since I experienced that level of joy at a club football match.
So much has already been written about the misery of the past three seasons and how the football was becoming almost too unbearable to watch.
It felt like a collective relief and hope was in the east Lancashire air, with a new cohort of players connecting with its loyal fans and fighting until the final whistle was blown.
And the spearhead for this new era? New manager Nicky Hayen, who just seems to 'get us'.
He spent the week leading up the game meeting with the fan advisory board and getting to know what we want, while also articulating his expectations (booing = a no).
A meeting of minds and philosophies all came to a head on Sunday afternoon, as players greeted fans on arrival, warmed up in front of the busiest home stands, whipped up the support during the game and then enjoyed a lap of honour when every player applauded every supporter and thanked them for being there. With eye contact!
New signings Max Alleyne and Ugo Raghouber looked sprightly and promising, with moments of composure well beyond their years.
Old guards Zeki Amdouni and Armando Broja did exactly what you want substitutes to do - change the game. And Zian Flemming did what Zian Flemming does best. Scores goals.
The focus before the game was all about West Ham. How they will walk the league with record points.
Maybe they will, but Burnley FC are masters of the Championship and have found themselves a very promising manager, who is reconnecting the club from top to bottom.
We can, and should, push them all the way for that title.
There is one piece of the puzzle left. Burnley fans asked for Parker to be sacked. Now it's our turn to show up and uphold our end of the bargain.
We got what we wanted, now we need to back this new team and this new manager and march on to the Championship title together. Again.

Burnley fought back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with West Ham United on their return to the Championship on Sunday.
Zian Flemming scored two late goals - including a 92nd-minute equaliser to earn the Clarets a point.
Burnley fans have been having their say on the result and here is a selection of their thoughts:
Pete - A really encouraging start albeit the defensive frailties of last season are still evident. Otherwise, forward passing and movement much, much better already. It will only get better as the players get used to Hayen's system. It does depend who is left and who arrives by 1 September but the signs are good - UTC!
Gav - We need to sort our defence out, cheap goals again but we looked a lot more fluent going forward. Better than the sideways and backwards approach of last season.
Thomas - My hopes were high starting the season. After this exciting match against West Ham they are sky high.
Ian - Far better spirit and determination from the midfield and forwards. Some players were obviously fired up by the manager at half time, which was good to see. Still lacking a 'get to the ball at all costs' defender. A tall centre back would give us presence in both boxes.
Dickie - It takes a lot to fight back from 2-0 down particularly in this division. Encouraging signs from the Clarets.

Shaun - I thought overall it was a decent performance, the fact we didn't lose is massive in the grand scheme of things. Even this early a loss and our fans would have been baying for blood again but that recovery is massive.
Shayne - First game and we've come out of it with a draw against the favourites. We have lots of areas to improve, excited for Hayden and the squad for the season.
Tim - Better than a lot of performances last year and with more luck we could have won it. Defence is still weak but hopefully will improve.
Joe - Thought Burnley were on top throughout, especially in the second half. Clarets seem to have been underestimated by many so far.
Richard - We played with greater intensity and belief than at any time under Scott Parker. Although it's early days with our new manager, the performance was very encouraging. Need to hang on to Walker and Flemming though.
