It's a slightly unconvincing hold to 30 from Arthur Fery but they all count.

The highlights? A putaway volley at the net off a floaty slice - did Alexander Zverev know Fery was there? - and a big wide serve to close out the hold after giving up 40-30.

It isn't much better news for British tennis over on Court One.

Alfie Hewett, after a lengthy fourth game, broke back against Gustavo Fernandez in what is already becoming a slugfest of a semi-final.

Hewett however is clearly unhappy with how he is playing. The fifth game, on his serve, goes to multiple deuces and the man from Norwich is loudly berating himself.

And the Argentine fourth seed has broken once again to retake the lead in the first set.

Jamie: "Fery's game is probably a little like Lleyton Hewitt's, yeah. Lleyton probably didn't have the power some of these guys had either, but moved incredibly well and was happy to come forward to the net.

"I would say Fery comes forward to the net more then Hewitt and uses it more as a real part of his gameplan and identity. But that is not a bad comparison."

Alexander Zverev is the first to return, sauntering ahead of his Wimbledon minder. He heads to the shade at the back of the court and waves his racquet about.

The German only dropped three points on serve in the second set.

Jamie Murray: "I think Fery makes his opponents play bad under pressure because he rushes them, doesn't give them any opportunity to really settle into the rally.

"He is happy to hit his return and come forward for example, so he doesn't give them any chance to settle into the rally, get a neutral position.

"He forces you to have to come up with a difficult shot, and he is so quick to move forward when he sees his opponent slightly off balance or going to take a hand off the racquet."

Arthur Fery has, not surprisingly, packed up his bag and marched off court for a much-needed reset.

Alexander Zverev has walked off too, but he's looking a lot more relaxed than the British wildcard.

Absolutely clinical by Alexander Zverev. He's a class above at the moment.

The German second seed is one set away from reaching the Wimbledon final for the first time and ending Arthur Fery's dream run at SW19.

Jamie Murray: "Zverev gets a lot of cheap points on his serve because his serving so big and the ball is coming down from such a height, but Fery returns closer to the baseline so the height is different for him.

"Granted he is not so tall, but the fact he will be closer to the baseline will hopefully help him, he just needs to deal with speed that will be coming at him.

"He has done such a good job on second-serve returns in the tournament so far, it is going to be a big part of his game if he is going to do well in this match and compete with Zverev."

The crowd are trying to get behind Arthur Fery but it's all gone a bit flat.

The "let's go Arthur, let's go" chant that had everyone singing along to in the first set fizzles out very quickly.

Britain's Alfie Hewett is aiming to reach his fifth Wimbledon wheelchair singles final, having won the title in 2024. He's the second seed, while Argentine opponent Gustavo Fernandez is ranked fourth.

Hewett looks like he is in for a fight, as Fernandez breaks in the first service game of the match and then is 0-30 up in the third before the Brit finally gets himself on the board.

Another straightforward hold of serve for second seed Alexander Zverev, who had never been beyond the last 16 at Wimbledon before his run at SW19 this year.

Alexander Zverev returns into the net on the first of the break points, but he finds his range on the second and Arthur Fery can only send a forehand long in reply.

Zverev has won the past four games and is racing towards a two-set lead.

I think the manner of how Arthur Fery lost the first-set tie-break, plus the level at which both players have started the second set, has knocked the stuffing out of the Centre Court crowd a bit.
