  2. 'We're getting better'published at 16:00 BST 3 October

    FT: Ireland 43-19 Japan

Speaking to IrishRugby+ after the final whistle, player of the match Beibhinn Parsons said:

"Last week was great to be back in green alongside the girls. I was on the sidelines for a while rehabbing, so I just really wanted to be back apart of the team again.

"Each game we've learnt a lot and obviously we want to be winning more so than losing, but every game we're getting better.

"Our new caps are straight in and have added so much value to our team. We had some starts today, we had three new caps and Alana and Sophie getting tries on debut.

"They're building our depth so much and it's a testament to this squad."

  3. Player of the Match - Beibhinn Parsonspublished at 15:56 BST 3 October

There were arguably quite a few stand outs in today's clash but the player of the match has been awarded to Beibhinn Parsons.

She got over for a try a minute into the second half, continually looked threatening with ball in hand, provided some great leadership throughout and popped up all over the pitch!

Not a bad day in the office for Ireland women's all-time record try scorer, who extended her record to 25 tries today.

Tries by Eilis Cahill, Brittany Hogan, Neve Jones and Anna McGann in the first half, followed by scores by Beibhinn Parsons and debutants Alana McInerney and Sophie Barrett after the break bring an impressive seven-try display to an end.

In spite of Japan dotting down in the opening couple minutes, the home side remained patient and more disciplined than in previous weeks and managed to come out top in Cork.

Scott Bemand's side can take a lot more confidence from that performance ahead of their two-Tests trip to South Africa in the WXV Global Series later this month.
