  13. 'It feels like a new city', says Ulster new boy with Belfast linkspublished at 17:26 BST 3 October

    Glasgow v Ulster (17:30 BST)

Having visited Belfast often during his childhood, the city which is the home of Ulster Rugby holds a certain familiarity for the Irish province's new utility back Jamie Benson.

The 24-year-old is Irish-qualified through Belfast relatives and made the move to Ulster from Harlequins on a two-year deal in the summer.

Benson is one of a number of additions to Richie Murphy's squad for the new season and started at centre in Ulster's United Rugby Championship opening weekend defeat by Edinburgh.

"My mum grew up in Belfast, along with a lot of her family, so a lot of them still live in Belfast and are big Ulster fans," said Benson, who has represented England at U18 and U20 level, as well as being selected in a wider England A squad earlier this season.

"I spent a decent amount of time here growing up but it's definitely different living here myself, as opposed to coming here to visit family.

"It feels like a new city that I probably haven't been to before just because of the situation of me living here permanently, living on my own, working, playing rugby. So definitely different but I'm enjoying it," he told BBC Sport NI's Mark Sidebottom.

  14. Dobie stars as Glasgow beat Munsterpublished at 17:24 BST 3 October

    Glasgow v Ulster (17:30 BST)

Glasgow Warriors began their United Rugby Championship season in fine style as an impressive second-half turnaround earned a bonus-point win over Munster at Thomond Park last weekend.

The Irish outfit deservedly led at half-time after Ben O'Connor and Michael Milne crossed for tries either side of Jamie Dobie's score for Glasgow.

However, Glasgow grew in stature after the interval and turned the game on its head thanks to scores from Nathan McBeth, George Horne and Dobie.

  15. Ulster fightback comes up short in loss to Edinburghpublished at 17:22 BST 3 October

    Glasgow v Ulster (17:30 BST)

Ulster's thrilling second-half comeback at the Affidea Stadium came up short as Edinburgh left Belfast with a 34-29 win in the opening game of the United Rugby Championship.

In a pulsating start to the new season, the Scottish side played Ulster off the pitch in the first 55 minutes as they built what looked like an unassailable 34-5 lead.

Tries came from Freddy Douglas, Malelili Satala, Hector Patterson and Piers O’Conor, with James Grayson converting them all and adding two penalties.

Only Michael Lowry’s try troubled the scorers for Ulster.

Then, from out of nowhere, the home side found their stride, scoring three tries in the space of 10 minutes from Zac Ward, David McCann and Keynan Knox, with Jack Murphy adding the conversions and a late penalty.

Momentum was on their side but Ulster couldn’t complete the job, coming away with two bonus points for their efforts.

  16. Stockdale a late withdrawal in Ulster lineuppublished at 17:20 BST 3 October

    Glasgow v Ulster (17:30 BST)

Jacob Stockdale is a late withdrawal from the Ulster side, with Ethan McIlroy moving to full-back and Ben Carson coming in to fill the outside centre position.

Three Ireland internationals return to the starting line-up from last week's defeat by Edinburgh in Belfast.

Tom Stewart, Cormac Izuchukwu and Bryn Ward are all named in the side, while new signings Keynan Knox, Matthew Devine and Chay Mullins are set to make their first starts.

Stewart and Knox come into the front row to join Eric O'Sullivan, while Izuchukwu comes into the second row where he will partner Eli Snyman.

In the back row, Bryn Ward comes in for his season bow at number eight with last week's player of the match David McCann switching to open-side flanker and academy player James McKillop at blind-side.

Jack Murphy retains his place at fly-half, but will be partnered by Devine, who starts for the first time having made his debut off the bench last week.

In midfield, Jamie Benson retains his place at inside centre accompanied by Carson.

Michael Lowry and Robert Baloucoune suffered concussions against Edinburgh, with McIlroy in at full-back and former Connacht player Mullins in at right-wing, while Zac Ward comes in for his first start of the campaign on the left.

Nathan Doak and Juarno Augustus have been deemed fit for a place on the bench that has a 6-2 split.

Ulster: McIlroy, Mullins, Carson, Benson, Z Ward; Murphy, Devine; O'Sullivan, Stewart, Knox; Izuchukwu, Snyman; McKillop, McCann, B Ward.

Replacements: Walker, McAllister, Bello, Donnell, McNabney, Doak, Flannery, Augustus.
