    Wakefield 12-0 Leigh

Wakefield waste a promising set virtually on the try-line.

Tom Johnstone makes a hash of getting the ball out from under him and play is held up for an incorrect play the ball.

And in the process he's injured and the physio comes on to have a look at his left leg.

Not long left in the half, now.

Happy to eat my words on this because, you know, game on and all that. But Leigh don't look like they're going to score this side of half-time at the minute.

    Wakefield 12-0 Leigh

Edwin Ipape loses possession cheaply and Wakefield win back possession again.

It's not happening for Leigh so far tonight.

We can see Adrian Lam smacking the chair in front of him.

Obviously extremely frustated with this first half from Leigh.

    Wakefield 12-0 Leigh

Louis Brogan tries his best to go over but he's held up by a crowd of Wakefield players.

There's a brief pause as play resets and they work the ball to David Armstrong but he spins to avoid a tackle and the ball is punted out of his hands and Trinity regain possession.

A waste. Leigh head coach Adrian Lam in the stands is livid at that.

    Wakefield 12-0 Leigh

Leigh are given another set of six virtually on halfway.

It's not been a great first half for them but can they end it strongly and make this count?

    Wakefield 12-0 Leigh

There's a brief pause in play as Mike McMeeken goes in on Leigh full-back David Armstrong.

That pause doesn't last long but the incident's put on report. At least from a very quick replay in the aftermath, I can't see exactly what McMeeken's done there.

Further bad news in the short term for Leigh - Jacob Alick-Wiencke is off for a head injury assessment.

    It's very difficult to see.

On one angle, his knee looks on the floor.

On another, he doesn't look near the touchline.

It's not conclusive but I believe his knee isn't over the touchline.

  10. try

TRY: Wakefield 12-0 Leighpublished at 28 mins

    Tom Johnstone

    It's given!

Video referee Liam Rush has plenty of looks at it. Tom Johnstone's judged not to have gone into touch during the tackle as he runs in at the corner and the on-field decision of no try is overturned.

That had been coming. Caius Faatili had come within inches of going over shortly beforehand, but he slipped before he could get over the line and they kept the ball alive and worked it wide to Johnstone to score his 20th try of the season so far.

Max Jowitt scuffs his kick wide of the mark, however.

Tom Johnstone's over for Wakefield but we're going upstairs.

He makes a dive to the corner but referee Chris Kendall's not happy.

    Wakefield 8-0 Leigh

Lachlan Walmsley looks winded in the aftermath of a tackle.

The Wakefield winger has been sensational tonight. He runs it off and then wins a penalty as he races up field to collect Mason Lino's high kick, which Leigh make a hash of dealing with.

Another set of six, 15 metres out, beckons for Trinity.

    Wakefield 8-0 Leigh

Wakefield throw on Caleb Hamlin-Uele, who returns from injury.

He's called into action from the tackle straight away.

Meanwhile, Leigh win back possession but they're being kept pinned back at the minute. They've made very little in the way of moves into the Wakefield half so far tonight.

It's quite frustrating for a defence when you get the number nine barging over like that.

Adrian Lam won't be best pleased.

Right then, what do Leigh have in response to that Wakefield start?

That earlier penalty, which led to Wakefield going 2-0 up, looks fairly costly.

  16. try

TRY: Wakefield 8-0 Leighpublished at 17 mins

    Tyson Smoothy, goal Max Jowitt

    Advantage Wakefield!

Trinity keep up their momentum after that penalty on the last attack which was conceded by Lachlan Lam's high hit on Lachlan Walmsley.

They keep the ball alive from the attack that follows but can't find a way through. That is until Tyson Smoothy picks up the ball on the last and goes in like a one-man battering ram as he spins over under pressure to ground the ball.

    Max Jowitt adds the two.

    Wakefield 2-0 Leigh

Ky Rodwell tries to batter his way over the line but Leigh hold him up.

Wakefield continue to raily, eventually feeding Lachlan Walmsley on the wing, but he's held up on the last.

But what's that? A penalty's given in favour of the hosts.

Another set of six beckons but can Leigh's defence hold on?

    Wakefield 2-0 Leigh

Umyla Hanley puts in a speculative kick as he tries to make a run in to pick it up but he squanders possession on Leigh's third tackle.

In the aftermath, Wakefield build up their attack and Tyson Smoothy puts in a pinpoint 40-20 kick.

    Impressive stuff.

That's unlike Mason Lino, who's been brought into the game for his execution like that.

He can't even blame the wind.

Mason Lino puts in a kick up field but he midjudges it, badly.

It sails out on the full and there's some sarcastic cheers that go up from the visiting Leigh supporters.
