    Tonga 8-4 Samoa

The forwards in this Tonga side take some stopping and lay another platform for Isaiya Katoa to serve up one of his bombs but this time his kick is poor and Dallin Watene-Zelezniak can only knock on.

With their first set, Tonga go 80 metres. Samoa don't go quite as far with theirs. That's a sign to me that the momentum is still with Tonga.

    Tonga 8-4 Samoa

A great return from Tonga as Haumole Olakau'atu powers up the middle and Isaiya Katoa then launches a huge kick that has Samoa in trouble before three men in blu hold up Robert Toia on their try line.

    HT: Tonga 8-4 Samoa

As it stands Tonga will play New Zealand in the last four of the World Cup and Samoa will face Australia in a repeat of the final in 2022.

Albeit that could flip around if Samoa turn this contest in their favour after the break.

Ben Gardiner will be talking to his Samoa players about trying to reduce the number of errors, but that was a high-quality game of footy, and evidence that either of these teams can win this competition.

    Tonga 8-4 Samoa

What a half of rugby league. Tonga have had the better of it and will be wondering how they are only four points ahead.

Stephen Crichton - what a leap. How did he get that pass to Brian To'o? That's a massive play considering how far Samoa were behind energy wise.

    Brian To'o

This is going to be looked at. But should stand. Jarome Luai's huge kick has Lehi Hopoate in all sorts of bother and when the ball bounces out but backwards off Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow, Stephen Crichton collects and offloads to put Brian To'o over in the corner. Wow.

Chanel Harris-Tavita can't convert from out on the right.

Head to head in a pool where you don't play everyone feels wrong. There shouldn't be two separate tie-break rules (depending on if you did or didn't play a team). With that in mind, it would be better (and arguably much fairer) if England go out because Tonga win.

    Tonga 8-0 Samoa

    Matthew Elliott

Samoa are their own worst enemies at the moment. We're seeing a lot of errors from them in this half, particularly in the energy stakes. They're looking really tired right now.

England just need Tonga to score another 39 unaswered points to reach the semi-finals!

Jermaine McEwen is penalised for a hand in the ruck. Tonga have a penalty.

Connelly Lemuelu loses the ball as he tries to break the Tonga line. This is sensational rugby league.

    Tonga 6-0 Samoa

Dallin Watene-Zelezniak returns a long Jarome Luai kick but runs into a huge blue wall and then Luai makes a bone-crunching tackle on Demitric Vaimauga, that results in Samoa getting the ball back.

    Tonga 6-0 Samoa

Benaiah Ioelu knocks on with Samoa on the attack. Look at those Tonga celebrations. Lehi Hopoate looks particularly delighted.

    Tonga 6-0 Samoa

A huge mistake from Lehi Hopoate from the kick-off as he lets the ball go out from the in-goal area.

    Tonga 6-0 Samoa

    Matthew Elliott

The speed of the game is starting to take its toll on Samoa. What about Rob Toia there? His footwork, poise and balance to go 40 meters - incredible, because he wasn't beating ordinary players there, that's for sure.

CONVERTED TRY - Tonga 6-0 Samoapublished at 27 mins

    Robert Toia

Was Robert Toia listening? The Sydney Roosters centre escapes down the right thanks to Haumole Olakau'atu's offload and then puts on the footwork to skip away from Samoa full-back Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow.

    Isaiya Katoa adds the extras.
