Can Tyrone spring a surprise or will Kerry continue on course to back-to-back All-Ireland titles?

The teams are linking up for Amhrán na bhFiann as the second of today's All-Ireland quarter-finals nears.

Following Niall Morgan's late two-point winner against Mayo in Round 2A a fortnight ago, Tyrone are aiming to make it to the semi-finals in back-to-back seasons.

The Red Hands were beaten in the final four by today's opponents Kerry last year as the Kingdom flexed their muscles in the second-half to pull away 1-20 to 0-17 victors, but could that week off while Kerry contended with Armagh prove vital?

Malachy O'Rourke's men kept Mayo to just eight points in the first half last time out and limited Armagh to 1-17 through extra-time in the preliminary round of the Ulster Championship, but David Clifford and Kerry are a totally different proposition.

The current Footballer of the Year hauled 1-10 as Kerry ran riot against Armagh, taking his tally through five championship matches to 4-31 for the campaign.

It will take a monumental display for Tyrone to advance but it isn't out of the realms of possibility as we saw before when the Ulster outfit shocked Kerry 3-14 to 0-22 on the way to lifting Sam Maguire in 2021.

Darragh Canavan isn't fit to make the 26 for Tyrone for the crunch All-Ireland clash with Kerry.

The Errigal Ciaran forward was a late substitute in the Round 2A win over Mayo a fortnight ago but a hip flexor injury rules him out this evening.

Malachy O'Rourke has named an unchanged side for today's quarter-final while his opposite number, Jack O'Connor has been forced into one late change.

Brian O Beaglaioch has been ruled out of the matchday squad, with Gavin White coming into the half-back line.

Tom O'Sullivan makes his return to the Kerry squad and is among the substitutes while goalkeeper Shane Ryan who was back on the panel for last week's win over Armagh isn't available for selection today.

Former Tyrone manager Feargal Logan feels the Red Hands "can beat Kerry" when they meet in Saturday's All-Ireland Senior Football Championship semi-final at Croke Park [18:15 BST].

The teams met at the semi-final stage last year with Kerry recording a six-point win before going on to collect their 39th title.

Jack O'Connor's side suffered defeat by Donegal in the opening round of this year's championship, but recovered to score wins over Kildare and Armagh to reach the last eight.

There are signs the defending champions are starting to peak at the right time once again and while they will pose a significant challenge this week, Logan feels Tyrone have the capability of upsetting the odds.

"Kerry have looked bit off-beam [earlier in the season] and that's a dangerous thing to say about the Kingdom, but I had a feeling earlier in the year, maybe too many dinner dances going on and we've all lived that, so I'm not saying it in a pious way," Logan told BBC Sport NI.

"They have clicked into gear now and have the boy wonder 'Cliffy' [David Clifford]. It's a big task for Tyrone, but it's doable."

Steven Sherlock chips over a free to pull one back for Cork.

Cork are punished for a second time in this game for a breach. This time, Ryan O'Donoghue goes for a single point and he duly kicks over as Mayo open up a six-point gap with almost 67 minutes gone.

Cork have now hit 14 wides in this game and it is telling now with Mayo staying accurate, particularly in this second half.

Conor Loftus is the latest to point for the Connacht side.

At the other end, Ryan O'Donoghue makes no mistake with a close range free for Mayo and they lead by four again with around five minutes left.
