Sheffield Wednesday keeper Pierce Charles could be out for two months with a shoulder injury, report BBC Radio Sheffield., external

The Northern Ireland international damaged his left shoulder during the Owls' FA Cup defeat to Brentford on Saturday and had to be substituted.

It would mark the second time this season the 20-year-old will have been out of action for an extended spell, after sustaining an injury on his right shoulder in August that ruled him out for over three months.

Charles has made 11 appearances this season and his performances have been one of the few highlights of a challenging campaign for the Owls.

It may also affect his availability for Northern Ireland's World Cup play-off semi-final against Italy on 26 March.

Goalkeeper Pierce Charles could be facing another injury lay-off after damaging a shoulder in Sheffield Wednesday's FA Cup third round defeat by Brentford.

The Northern Ireland international has been in fine form for the Owls since returning in December from a shoulder problem which required surgery and kept him out for three months.

Wednesday manager Henrik Pedersen revealed that the 20-year-old hurt the other shoulder after defying the Premier League opposition with a series of saves, forcing him to be replaced by debutant Logan Stretch.

Pedersen told BBC Radio Sheffield: "It's the opposite shoulder and right now we don't know but he has a lot of pain, so maybe a scan tomorrow and maybe we'll know more.

"It's awful for him. He is such an important part of our way of playing, defensively and offensively, and how he has played since he came back is fantastic.

"It's so sad if it's another injury to keep him out for weeks or longer. I really hope the best for him, he deserves it."

It is really sad to see what has happened at Sheffield Wednesday and there is no way for them to salvage their season now.

Brentford are flying at the moment under Keith Andrews and they are another club who I'd love to see have a real go at the FA Cup this season.

The Bees have never got past the quarter-finals in their history, and have not even got that far since 1989. You only have to look at Palace last year to find a team winning it for the first time so it is definitely doable for them too.

Sheffield Wednesday are set to lose the services of on-loan full-back Harry Amass, reports BBC Radio Sheffield.

The 18-year-old joined the Owls from Manchester United on transfer deadline day but is expected to return to Old Trafford with his loan period having expired following Sunday's 3-0 loss at QPR.

It is thought clubs higher up the Championship are interested in taking the England under-19 international for the remainder of the season.

Amass, who won consecutive club player of the month awards for November and December, has made 21 league appearances, scoring one goal.
