Falkirk left-back Sean Mackie has returned to the second tier to spend the season on loan with Ross County.

The 26-year-old helped the Bairns to League 1 and Championship title success in the past two seasons, making 82 appearances since joining the club in summer 2022.

County manager Tony Docherty said: "He adds experience and knowledge of the Scottish Championship, having featured heavily and successfully in Falkirk's title win last season, as well as being part of the Hibs team which won this division."

Dundee goalkeeper Trevor Carson has reunited with Tony Docherty by joining Championship side Ross County on loan until the end of the season.

Carson, 37, has made 54 appearances for the Dark Blues since arriving from St Mirren on a three-year deal in summer 2023.

But the Northern Ireland international has featured just twice this season, in the League Cup group stage, and the recent signing of Kieran O'Hara pushed him further down the pecking order.

Carson will now look to help relegated County, who are led by former Dundee boss Docherty, recover from the poor start to the season in the Championship.

"Trevor adds fantastic experience and mentality to the squad having made over 300 career appearances," said Docherty.

"He's a top professional having excelled at both club and international level, and we know he'll bring real quality and leadership to the squad."

James Scott has joined Ross County on a season-long loan, with St Mirren having the option to recall the 24-year-old in January.

The forward joined the Saints on loan from Exeter in January 2024 before signing a permanent two-year deal last summer.

Scott has made 34 appearances for the Paisley side, netting one goal and contributing four assists.

"James is someone that I've known for a long time, he has so much talent, but we've just not been able to get the best out of him and we feel like a new start for him will help him go and get his confidence back," said manager Stephen Robinson.

"I believe Ross County are getting a very talented player and a great kid as well."

  6. Defender Iacovitti leaves St Mirren for County movepublished at 11:29 BST 8 August 2025

Defender Alex Iacovitti has left St Mirren by mutual consent to rejoin Ross County.

The 27-year-old moved to the Buddies last summer from Port Vale on a two-year deal.

Despite being dogged by injuries, Iacovitti made 23 appearances and scored three times for Stephen Robinson's side, including goals in Conference League qualifiers against Valur and SK Brann.

He has signed a one-year deal at County, where he previously played over 100 games before moving south in 2023.

"Alex was very unfortunate as he had numerous injuries last season which made his season really stop-start," Saints manager Robinson said.

"We won't forget his goal away to Brann and the joy that brought to so many people. But Alex is at an age where he needs to play football and we didn't want to stand in his way."
