    HT: Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

The Blades lead at the break and Wrexham can have no complaints.

In fact, it's the home side who will be grumbling after what looked a good shout for a penalty was turned down.

As it is, Wrexham are still right in this contest - but a significant improvement is required if they are to get back into this contest.

Wrexham almost conjure something right at the end of the half thanks to some slack Sheffield United defending, but the home side scramble clear as Ollie Rathbone threatens to shoot.

The boys are looking like they are enjoying themselves with good firm passes.

They just need this second goal.

Now Tahith Chong goes down in the Wrexham box after finding space thanks to Jordan Ayew's clever dummy, but this one looks a good tackle from Dom Hyam.

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

After a long spell on the ball, Romelle Donovan curls a cross into the Wrexham box but that is an easy one for Anthony Patterson.

  12. Postpublished at 42 mins

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

Sheffield United are stroking the ball around nicely now.

Wrexham are still looking for a foothold in the contest.

  13. 'Kabore's having a shocker against Donovan'published at 20:43 GMT

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

    Carl Asaba
Former Sheffield United striker on BBC Radio Sheffield

Wrexham had a poor result against Blackburn last weekend and you can see the confidence draining from them.

Kabore's having a shocker against Donovan.

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

Sheffield United have had 61% of possession so far. In truth it feels like more.

  15. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

Wrexham have been guilty of giving the ball away too cheaply, too often in this first half.

Phil Parkinson's side must do better.

  16. Postpublished at 20:40 GMT

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

Phil Parkinson's seat continues to get hotter. He's done an amazing job at Wrexham but has he taken them as far as he can?

So the consensus is that Sheffield United ought to have had a penalty and the chance to double their lead.

How important may that decision be come full-time?

  18. 'That's a penalty'published at 20:38 GMT

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

    Carl Asaba
Former Sheffield United striker on BBC Radio Sheffield

    That's a penalty. He's kicked him.

I thought the ref's view was blocked but he could see it and he's bottled it. It's poor from the ref.

  19. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

A better moment for Wrexham now as they work the ball down the left once more, but Jacques Ekomie's lifts his attempted cross over the top.

  20. Chance takenpublished at 20:37 GMT

    Sheffield United 1-0 Wrexham

    Ian Mitchelmore
    BBC Sport Wales

I mentioned the need for the Blades to take their chances, and they've done just that.

That's Ben Brereton Diaz's first goal of the campaign.

That said, the Blades went in front in both matches against Wrexham last season and went on to lose both games.
