Managers don't get time but Michael Carrick is going to have to deal with it. He did say he wanted a left-back to compete with Luke Shaw. You saw Patrick Dorgu play there at the weekend and he struggled. They did want Lewis Hall but Newcastle wouldn't let him go.

They are going for these players but they couldn't get them. And it's surprising because it's Man United, and usually when they come knocking, the player comes.

Blimey. Carrick was the best thing since sliced bread at the end of last season.

Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross, speaking to Sky Sports about conceding two goals early on: "It was frustrating because it's not the first time this season, it's the third time this season where we started slow. We have to improve that because we always have to climb a mountain but today we did that.

"We played here before last season a similar match that we won and that gives you belief in a stadium where you won before. The experience we try to give it to the lads. It was a really good performance and I have to say [Jason] Steeley's save at the end was unbelievable."

Terrible week for Man Utd. Nowhere near good enough. It's been a bad start for Man Utd all season. When Man City went down to 10 men on the weekend it wasn't good enough.

You can strengthen in midfield and attacking areas, defensively, you have to start strengthening. You're conceding way too many goals. For a club like Man Utd to be 2-0 up and lose 3-2, it's nowhere near good enough.

It's a fantastic result for Brighton. I thought they were outstanding. From when they went 2-0 down, they dominated. Man Utd waited for something to happen and it didn't.

They made all those changes and they still got a result. Pascal Gross is a player, by the way. He can't get around like he used to but he covers the ground.

Last year Grimsby, this year Brighton.

Manchester United were really poor in the second half tonight. Their week turns from bad to worse.

Credit to Brighton. A brilliant second-half performance from them.

They are having a really good season so far, scoring plenty of goals and getting the results too.

The first time in 50 years Manchester United have lost a game after going 2-0 up at home in any competition.

Lots of fans have stuck around to make their feelings known.

Boos at full time and it's not surprising. Brighton are through to round four of the EFL Cup.

Last chance for Manchester United. It's got to go into the box.

Bruno Fernandes is looking to be the man to save Manchester United again but his shot is very high and very wide.

Maxim de Cuyper goes into the referee's book for delaying the restart.

Brighton just trying to see this one out. To be honest, they have been the far superior team. Particularly in this second half.

FIVE minutes added on for Manchester United to prevent their EFL Cup run ending at the first hurdle. Again.

Frank Onyeka goes into the book for a foul on Emi Buendia.
