Stoke have splashed the cash this summer in a bid to finally rival for promotion as they enter a ninth successive Championship campaign but it hasn't quite got rocking for them so far.

The Potters have yet to put a point on the board and while it might have been 16 years since they lost all three of their opening games, they've got a mighty opponent this lunchtime.

After a sticky start to their season with a draw to Blackburn, Wolves' performances in the EFL Cup and against Preston North End last weekend suggests they might be starting to find their footing after a disastrous Premier League campaign saw them back in the second tier.

Stoke could make a statement with a win but the same could be said with a loss too - just not a very good one.

Kim Hellberg has made two changes to the Middlesbrough side that lost 2-1 at Blackburn last weekend.

Neto Borges and Riley McGree come into the starting line-up in place of USA duo Max Arfsten and Sebastian Berhalter, who both drop to the bench.

Striker Tommy Conway is also back in the matchday squad after recovering from an ankle injury which caused him to miss the play-off final in May and World Cup with Scotland.

West Bromwich Albion boss James Morrison names an unchanged XI from last Sunday's impressive 3-1 win at home to Burnley.

Aune Heggebo returns on the bench for the Baggies after serving his two-game suspension for scoring with his hand in the opening day win at Norwich.

There is also a place among the subs for new signing Kareem Tunde, who arrived from Spanish La Liga club Levante two days ago.

West Bromwich Albion have enjoyed an excellent start to the new Championship season with a 100% winning record but face a tough test to keep that going at Middlesbrough, who boasted the fifth best home record in the division last season.

Boro beat Lincoln at the Riverside in their first game but blew a one-goal lead to slip to a 2-1 defeat at Blackburn last time out.

A reshuffled Boro side overcame Doncaster Rovers in the EFL Cup in midweek and Kim Hellberg will be hoping to get things back on track in the league.

Meanwhile, Albion put in an excellent display in their 3-1 victory over Burnley to back up their opening day win at Norwich and ran Premier League Newcastle United very close in their 3-2 cup loss at St James' Park on Wednesday.

The Baggies will hope their strong start is not another false dawn after winning their opening two Championship matches last season before getting embroiled in a relegation scrap.

John Eustace makes two changes to the Derby side which fought back against Cardiff last week, with Lars-Jorgen Salvesen and Ryan Hedges coming into the starting line-up.

Carlton Morris drops out of the squad after a calf injury, and Oscar Fraulo makes the bench.

It's three changes for Swansea, with Melker Widell, Eom Ji-sung, and Josh Key all starting.

Ben Cabango is out after he got injured against Sheffield United, and both Elijah Just and Moussa Kounfolo Yeo are dropped to the bench.

Derby welcome Swansea this afternoon knowing their opponents could go to the top of the Championship with a win, provided West Brom or Wolves don't beat them to it.

The Rams have had a wobbly start to the season with a disappointing loss to Charlton, but they showed some grit to fight back twice to draw against the Swans' Welsh rivals Cardiff last week.

Swansea, meanwhile, have the wind in their sails on the back of signing midfielder Stephen Eustaquio, with head coach Vitor Matos hoping the Canada international can play a vital role in a promotion push.

But with John Eustace still yet to suss out his best starting 11, you can’t help but feel the defensive frailties will come under their sternest test yet.

Yes, yes, it is still too early to look at the league table. But let's take a quick sneak peek anyway...

Only three teams still boast a perfect record after two games of the Championship season (except Wrexham and Birmingham on three) and one of those is West Bromwich Albion, who are in action in one of our three early kick-offs.

Almost half the division are still chasing their first victory, including Derby and Stoke who are also playing at 12:30 BST, while four teams are going after their first points today.

We may only be three weeks into the new EFL season but you can sense there is already a little twitchiness among some fanbases.

Not winning either of your first couple of league games brings unwanted attention - just ask West Ham, Stoke, Norwich and Burnley.

The third round of Championship fixtures began with the Hollywood derby on Friday night and it was Birmingham City who came away from Wrexham with the bragging rights.

Centre-back Phil Neumann was the unlikely hero for Blues, scoring twice either side of a Callum Doyle effort for the Red Dragons to ensure Chris Davies' side left Wales with their first win of the season.

Wrexham remain without a win after three games, having drawn their previous two.

Good afternoon, everybody!

With all the talk of transfers and deadline day looming, it is sometimes easy to forget that football matches are won and lost on that green thing.

And that's what our focus will be today as we gear up for matchday three in the Championship.
