With under two hours to go, it is highly unlikely that West Bromwich Albion will sign a striker on deadline day.

The Baggies looked at Cameron Archer earlier in the transfer window but were unwilling to compromise on their new wage policy, which has helped significantly reduce the salary bill in recent seasons.

I understand that, for the sake of making a signing, they do not want to alter the strategy that has built a younger, hungrier squad, and the club are satisfied with the 10 signings they have made this summer.

Wrexham

Wrexham have terminated the contract of midfielder Elliot Lee by mutual consent.

The 31-year-old joined the Red Dragons from Luton Town in the summer of 2022 and played a starring role in the club's rapid rise up the football pyramid, winning three promotions during his Wrexham career.

Manager Phil Parkinson said: "I'd like to thank Elliot for what he has done for this football club.

"He has been a great player for us here at Wrexham and has made a significant contribution to the club's rise through the divisions.

"He is at the stage now where he is eager to go and play and get some minutes, and whoever gets him will get a player who still has a lot to offer."

Swansea City

Swansea City are enjoying a strong start to the Championship season but they have also been busy on deadline day.

The Swans are still in the market for a centre-back and have made Strasbourg's Soumaila Coulibaly their top target.

There are also potential outgoings with Zeidane Inoussa poised to join Portsmouth on loan for the remainder of the season, while Ronald could depart for Millwall.

Not to mention the noise around Zan Vipotnik's future which won't go away until the window closes.

Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough have been working on a deal to sign Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry on loan from Brighton, while Morgan Whittaker could be set to leave for MLS side Colorado Rapids.

Cozier Duberry, 21, scored 10 goals in 41 games in all competitions last season for Bolton Wanderers.

Whittaker, 25, has scored 14 goals and provided nine assists in 66 games for Boro since arriving from Plymouth in January 2025.

Brighton have agreed a deal to sign Nigeria winger Femi Azeez from Millwall.

The 25-year-old scored 11 goals and provided eight assists in 37 games last season, earning a place in the PFA Championship team of the year.

Azeez has been pushing for a move to the Premier League, with Millwall rejecting at least three bids from the Seagulls in recent weeks.

His departure would be a club record sale for Millwall, who are set to receive an initial £12.5m - potentially rising past £15m with add-ons.

Southampton

Southampton winger Samuel Edozie is one player who has been trying to find a move on deadline day.

The 23-year-old handed in public transfer request on Instagram earlier today and said he had "multiple offers" from European clubs.

Cardiff City have reportedly had a bid for Edozie rejected, while Saints turned down a £1.7m offer from another club earlier in the window.

It remains to be seen if Edozie gets the move he wants before 23:00 BST.

Manchester United have failed in their attempts to sign highly-rated midfielder Louis Page from Leicester City.

United's interest in Page was first reported by BBC Sport in August.

However, the first sign of a problem was Page being named in Leicester's starting line-up for their League One fixture against Plymouth on Tuesday.

It was then confirmed by sources the deal will not be concluded and Page will remain a Leicester player.

It is understood the Foxes wanted well in excess of £10m for the 18-year-old, who only made his first team debut in August 2025, but has already carved out an impressive reputation, making 25 appearances in total.

It was anticipated United were willing to loan Page straight back to Leicester, given they have already spent in excess of £150m on international midfielders this summer.

Wimbledon have made their third signing of deadline day.

Jamaica international forward Dujuan Richards has signed on a season-long loan from Chelsea.

And Mansfield have just announced they have re-signed Tottenham midfielder George Abbott on loan until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old made 10 appearances for the Stags last season and scored on his debut for the club against Peterborough.

They've been chasing Johnny Kenny. We're led to believe that he's going to Preston, so there's probably a little bit of disappointment.

There won't be too many people who know an awful lot about Theo Bair, but he's got to be given an opportunity.

The problem is that the Sheffield United owners - again, I'm afraid, for the second summer in a row - have done themselves no favours.

They've been the main talking point over the last few weeks given the situation with the former owners. People have not really heard from them at all. Their statements are very dismissive of that.

Fans are wondering what happens next, amid all the talk and the speculation about the former owners andthe statements that they put out, talk of potential points deductions.

In the meantime, they've sold another player. Whether the price is is good or not, if United were in the position where they have to sell Callum O'Hare hours before the deadline closes, what was that bid for [Leicester's] Harry Souttar about?

Was that actually a serious bid? If it was, the money's there and they don't have to sell Callum O'Hare and give themselves a race against the clock to bring somebody else in.

The timing of Callum O'Hare leaving has been horrendous, but that's a by-product of the transfer window itself, not necessarily anything Sheffield United have or haven't done.

I personally think the fees involved are pretty good. It's just the timing of his departure that is going to irritate fans.

We can all understand why that might be given his contributions, both in terms of goals and assists over the course of the the past couple of seasons, and the little time it gives to try to find a replacement, which of course Sheffield United are currently trying to do.

But it follows on from Andre Brooks and Gus Hamer going, so the three most creative players last season are now no longer at the football club.

There's an awful lot of pressure on those that have come in to replace them, which at the moment it doesn't look as though they're going to do.

It's a big loss to lose the three players that have been most likely to get people off their seats at Bramall Lane recently.

It'll be fascinating to see if anybody comes in between now and the end of tonight, but they are three huge holes to fill.

You can't see them being directly replaced, but can Sheffield United get somebody in who can can offer something from an attacking perspective?

Burnley

Burnley have signed defender Igor Julio from Brighton & Hove Albion for an undisclosed fee.

The 28-year-old Brazilian spent last season on loan at West Ham but made just four appearances.

He previously played 37 games for the Seagulls after arriving in 2023 from Italian club Fiorentina, where he was a Coppa Italia and Europa Conference League runner-up.

"I'm very happy to be here. Burnley is a great club, with lots of history and I'm pleased to be a part of it," Julio told the club website, external.

"Once I heard of the interest and spoke to the manager, I wanted to get the move done and I'm ready for this next chapter now in my career."

With all the transfer talk on deadline day, it's easy to forget there is also some actual EFL football going on tonight.
