Borussia M'gladbach manager Alexander Blessin speaking before the game: "Tactically, we’ve worked on aspects such as positioning and contesting duels. A lot of the focus has been on intensity. Stuttgart are a very powerful side and have shown just how good they are, particularly in the Champions League. We have to match them and be prepared for some difficult spells during the game. The crowd can really get behind them, but they can also get on their backs."

On the opposition: "Stuttgart make a lot of changes to their lineup, but there are clear patterns to the way they play. We can’t let them build up momentum or find their rhythm. We need to make good decisions, think quickly and stay switched on. We’re going to have to dig deep and push ourselves to the limit. Most people will expect a Champions League side like VfB to win comfortably. We have other ideas, though, and we’re determined to make life as difficult as possible for them."

As things currently stand Borussia M'gladbach are still waiting for their first win in the league. A win for Stuttgart will take them closer to an European spot.

No team have ever started a Bundesliga game with seven defeats, and after Joe Scally equalised for the away side, will Borussia M'gladbach be able to avoid making unwanted history?

The whistle goes for half time and it's all square.

Stuttgart will be disappointed not to go in ahead while Borussia Monchengladbach will be pleased that they finished the first half the stronger of the two teams.

Machino does well to keep the ball live, twisting and turning amongst the defenders. He manages to set the ball back to Bolin.

Bolin plays ball into the path of Neuhaus's first time effort, which forces an impressive save from Seimen.

Joe Scally is an American fullback who has scored three of Borussia Monchengladbach’s nine goals this season.

The USA international has been with Monchengladbach since 2019 despite only being 23 years of age. He’s made over a 150 appearances for Die Fohlen (The Foals) over the last seven years and is a crucial part of Alexander Blessin’s side.

Borussia Monchengladbach win the ball back and release Hugo Bolin who dances into the box and plays a teasing ball which is just out of reach for Shuto Machino who wasn't quite able to set his feet.

Is that Borussia M'gladbach's best chance so far?

A nice spell of possession from Borussia M'gladbach which sees them go from back to front and ends with Stuttgart defender Assignon getting in front of the attacker and safely playing it to his goalkeeper.

Seimen clears the ball out for a throw-in.

That's close from Dzenan Pejcinovic!

A ball gets whipped in from the left, and his finish is inches wide.

Borussia Monchengladbach have been sitting back allowing Stuttgart to step on to them, and the pressure doesn't seem to be lessening.

Who do you think will win, Stuttgart or Borussia M'gladbach?

Stuttgart manager Sebastian Hoeness said in a press conference in the build up to tonight's action: "“We’re going into the meeting with Borussia Mönchengladbach well prepared and with full power, and want to deliver the best performance we can with the support of our fans tomorrow night."

On playing at home: “We’re looking forward to the second game under the lights in the space of four days, and what will certainly be another brilliant atmosphere at the MHP Arena.”

If you thought Stuttgart had made a poor start to the season Borussia Monchengladbach have got news for you.

Die Borussen have taken a grand total of zero points from the opening six games meaning that they’ve made one of the poorest starts to a Bundesliga season in recent memory.

The start was so poor that Eugen Polanski was dismissed after the first four matches of the season.

He was replaced by ex-St Pauli manager Alexander Blessin who has yet failed to arrest the slide, losing his first two matches in charge.

Gladbach have form for starting a season in poor fashion but turning it around in spectacular fashion.

Ten years ago Gladbach sat bottom of the league winless after five matches before eventually finishing in fourth place in the Bundesliga and qualifying for the Champions League.

As mentioned Stuttgart won their opening two games of the Champions League league phrase competition, and dominated in the opening 45 minutes of their last game against Atletico Madrid but had to settle for a draw.

The German side did not take the lead until the 36th minute, when Jamie Leweling scored from the edge of the area with a fine low strike to give the Bundesliga side a deserved advantage at the break.

But they were made to rue their missed first-half chances when Argentina striker Julian Alvarez levelled the game just over a minute after the restart.

Atletico looked like they might take control of the game but then Atletico midfielder Morten Hjulmand's challenge left them with 10 men for the final 26 minutes.

That saw Stuttgart put them under pressure but they could not find a winner as defender Jeff Chabot headed wide their best opportunity from Maximilian Mittelstadt's corner.

Let's start with the home side shall we.

Stuttgart’s league form is in stark contrast to their form in Europe.

Where VFB are un-beaten with two wins and a draw from their opening matches in the Champions League they’ve only tasted victory twice in the Bundesliga against Cologne and Paderborn.

The four other matches have seen them suffer defeats with an opening day defeat against Bayern Munich saw them concede five goals.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeness has been in charge of Die Schwaben (The Swabians) for three and a half years now and brought with him success in the form of a second-place finish in the 2023/24 Bundesliga a fourth placed finish in last year’s Bundesliga that saw them return to the Champions League in between that was a German Cup win giving Stuttgart their first trophy since the 2006/07 Bundesliga title.
