  1. Will Slot start Ngumoha against PSG?published at 15:19 BST 13 April

Including Rio Ngumoha would be the high-risk strategy, and Arne Slot's natural default position has been conservatism this season. He will also be wary of PSG's threat on the counter-attack that has torn apart better teams than this current Liverpool side.

The other side of the argument asks what Slot has to lose?

Slot has managed Ngumoha's minutes carefully, and was playing his cards close to his chest afterwards.

"In this game Rio showed why I play him more and more and more, because he is getting stronger and stronger, fitter and fitter, and more and more ready to already play at this level at 17 years of age," said Slot.

"He dominated his one v one situation, which is crucial, and that is why we went 1-0 up."

  2. Barcola back in PSG squad for Anfield tiepublished at 15:15 BST 13 April

Liverpool v PSG (Tue, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Bradley Barcola has been named in Paris St-Germain's travelling squad of 22 players to Liverpool.

The France forward has scored 12 goals in 38 appearances for PSG this season but has not played since injuring his ankle in the second leg of their last-16 Champions League victory over Chelsea on 17 March.

Barcola, 23, was on target in PSG's 3-0 second-leg win over Chelsea, extending his scoring run of five goals in six matches.

  3. Szoboszlai faces media after 'fan gestures' footagepublished at 15:10 BST 13 April

Liverpool v PSG (Tue, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

Liverpool's Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai faces the media for the first time since video footage was circulated on social media showing him making what looked like frustrated gestures towards the travelling support after their 4-0 defeat at Manchester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

The footage showed the 25-year-old raising his hands in the air, shrugging his shoulders and clapping in a potentially sarcastic manner towards Reds supporters, as boos rang out following the final whistle.

Szoboszlai, who has scored 12 goals in 46 appearances for Liverpool this season and has been widely regarded one of the club's standout players, was subsequently led away by team-mate Federico Chiesa.

The incident was widely reported, external and the midfielder is almost certain to be asked about it in today's news conference.

  4. Big week for Slotpublished at 15:04 BST 13 April

Liverpool v PSG (Tues, 20:00 BST)

    Liverpool

One week is a long time in football, and this one could make or break Liverpool boss Arne Slot.

The Reds host Paris St-Germain at Anfield on Tuesday, looking to overturn a 2–0 deficit from the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final.

Special European nights under the Anfield lights are always possible, and that would certainly change the mood around an under-pressure Slot.

However, another disappointing performance - like in Paris, where Slot's side failed to register a shot on target - will only intensify the pressure ahead of Sunday's Merseyside derby.

Back-to-back defeats, especially against rivals Everton, would make it difficult for Slot to recover.

On the other hand, back-to-back wins would lift the energy around Anfield.

A huge week of football lies ahead for Slot's Reds.

I think if Arsenal don’t go through on Wednesday, that might be the straw that breaks the camel's back. They’d be going to the Etihad with their confidence at an all-time low against a City team who know how to win titles. Wednesday is huge for Arsenal’s confidence.

  8. When other teams have blown big Premier League leads?published at 13:28 BST 13 April

Let's take a look at three other significant title losses from sides that blew a big lead:

    • Newcastle, 1995-96: Newcastle had a huge lead but Manchester United chased it down to one point. Eventually, United ended the season on top by four points.
    • Manchester United, 2011-12: United had done all they could on the final day of the season, winning at Sunderland. It was nearly theirs, but a 94th-minute winner scored by Sergio Aguero handed Manchester City their first league trophy.
    • Liverpool, 2013-14: Liverpool were on course to win the league, but after dropping points, Man City's run of wins meant Manuel Pellegrini's side won the league by two points.

  9. 'Arsenal haven't done it before'published at 13:27 BST 13 April

Man City v Arsenal (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Micah Richards
Former Man City defender on Sky Sports

Ultimately, you've just got to do it.

I preferred chasing, where the pressure is off. All the pressure is on Arsenal. As the underdog, I preferred to chase. Arsenal could have gone 12 points clear, they didn't and now it is six points. Man City have got a game in hand.

Now everything has changed, psychologically. I think Arsenal are worried because they haven't done it before. They've got confident players but we constantly say about Arsenal, who is going to stand up, who are the leaders in the team?

  10. When have Arsenal lost title lead in the past?published at 13:26 BST 13 April

Arsenal have lost the lead late in a Premier League season on three previous occasions. Here's what happened each time:

    • 2002-03: Arsene Wenger's side spent nearly five months at the top of the table, Manchester United managed to take the lead after wins while Arsenal dropped points. Man Utd won the league, by five points.
    • 2007-08: Arsenal's lead this season came to an end in May 2008 when Wenger's side dropped to third, behind United and Chelsea. United also won the league that season, by four points.
    • 2022-23: Arsenal set a record this season, the most days at the top of the league without winning it. Pep Guardiola's Manchester City chased and eventually took the lead, ending the season five points ahead of Arteta's team.

As a Leicester City supporter I would love to be in either place, but in my humble opinion I think Manchester City will edge past Arsenal and win the PL, again. I think Arsenal may have run out of steam, I would love to be proved wrong and Arsenal win.

  13. Nine, six, three... Arsenal's lead narrowingpublished at 13:21 BST 13 April

The nightmare for Arsenal is how quickly their healthy lead could disappear.

Arsenal headed into the weekend with a nine point lead over Manchester City that could easily have become 12 points, had they beaten the aforementioned Bournemouth in Saturday's early kick-off.

Yet Pep Guardiola's side are now six points behind after Arsenal's defeat to Bournemouth and Man City's win at Chelsea.

The points gap could potentially narrow down to just three, if Man City can beat Arteta's side when they meet on Sunday.

Man City also have a game in hand, against Crystal Palace, which could level them on points with Arsenal.

If that is the case then on the final day it could go down to goal difference. Imagine that!

We'll take a look at when Arsenal and other teams have lost their lead in the Premier League.

  15. Similar, but different?published at 13:17 BST 13 April

Man City v Arsenal (Sun, 16:30 BST)

There are many similarities between the 2022-23 "title decider" between Manchester City and Arsenal and Sunday's showdown, but also some key differences.

City had trailed Arsenal by five points going into their match at the Etihad in April 2023, and had two games in hand.

This season, City trail by six points and only have one game in hand.

The question is, will the outcome be any different?

  17. Head-to-head - Haaland & De Bruyne masterclass inflicts title blowpublished at 13:07 BST 13 April

Man City 4-1 Arsenal (Apr, 2023)

    Media caption,

Manchester City's Kevin De Bruyne and Erling Haaland 'bullied' Arsenal defenders

Cue shudders from Arsenal fans, players and manager at the very mention of the Gunners' last Premier League defeat to Manchester City, when the home side delivered a masterclass to strike a huge psychological blow in the 2022-23 title race.

This confrontation was also billed as a potential title-decider, but turned into an embarrassingly one-sided affair.

Pep Guardiola's side moved two points behind Arsenal with two games in hand after being inspired by the devastating partnership of Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne.

Haaland sent De Bruyne away for a silky opener after seven minutes, and Arsenal then survived a constant bombardment of attacks before John Stones headed home from a free-kick in first-half stoppage time, the goal given by VAR after originally being ruled offside.

City goal machine Haaland was outstanding throughout and again set up De Bruyne for the third in the 54th minute, the Belgian passing a classy finish between the legs of Gunners defender Rob Holding.

Holding pulled one back for Arsenal late on before Haaland, denied four times by Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale earlier in the match, sealed a memorable night with his 49th City goal.

City would go on to win the title by five points from Arsenal.

  20. Head-to-head - Title rivals play out disappointing goalless drawpublished at 12:52 BST 13 April

Man City 0-0 Arsenal (Mar, 2024)

The assumption was when Arsenal claimed a point at Manchester City in a drab goalless draw in March 2024 that both sides had handed the impetus to Liverpool in what was, at that point, a three-way title race.

The result left Liverpool top of the table, two points clear of Arsenal and three ahead of City, in what was Jurgen Klopp's final season as manager at Anfield.

BBC Sport's chief football writer Phil McNulty wrote that the game "made a nonsense of its billing as a potential classic, as Arsenal's containing tactics snuffed out City while the Gunners had only limited chances of their own in a desperately poor affair".

Interestingly enough, Arteta may well ask his players for more of the same on Sunday - a draw would maintain their six-point lead over City, albeit having played a game more.

FYI: City would go on to win the 2023-24 Premier League title by two points from Arsenal, with Liverpool finishing nine points back in third.
