FT: Johor Darul Ta'zim 3-3 Chelsea

    Well, that's odd.

The game ended 3-3 and penalties were scheduled to go ahead to decide the game.

Chelsea's players looked to be getting ready to take the penalties, BUT penalties have been scrapped.

Chelsea will now return back to England and they will take on Real Sociedad at Stamford Bridge next weekend.

    Liverpool 2-0 Monaco

Liverpool have moved the ball really well here and Alexander Isak has been involved a lot more than he was at times last season.

That can only be a plus for Andoni Iraola's side.

    Liverpool 2-0 Monaco

Florian Wirtz is in acres of space and it's almost like he's caught in two minds as he tries to play the hardest pass.

The simple ball was the one there.

That is reward for what has been a superb first-half display from Florian Wirtz so far. Liverpool have been too good for Monaco and could easily have scored a few more. Andoni Iraola will be happy but I imagine he would have wanted a tougher test than this. Monaco came seventh in Ligue 1 last season.

    Liverpool 2-0 Monaco

Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz goals already.

Andoni Iraola will be expecting to see plenty more of that in the new season.

  9. goal

GOAL - Liverpool 2-0 Monacopublished at 15:00 BST 9 August

    Florian Wirtz (29 mins)

It's not the prettiest goal he'll ever score but Florian Wirtz won't mind.

Lewis Koumas dinks one to the back post and Cody Gakpo heads back into the mixer for Wirtz to scramble it home.

    Liverpool 1-0 Monaco

A reminder that Liverpool's opening Premier League game is away at Newcastle in two weeks.

Florian Wirtz has another go at finding the back of the net but he can't curl it into the bottom corner.

    The German looks sharp, though.

It has been a good watch for the neutral. Six goals, yellow cards and clashes between players.

But, the game isn't over - it will go to penalties.

Yes, penalties in a pre-season friendly. Criminal.

Florian Wirtz is running the show. He slips it through for Jeremie Frimpong high on the right and he manages to find Lewis Koumas but his effort is blocked.

  20. Postpublished at 20 mins

    Liverpool 1-0 Monaco

Alisson catches the corner easily and rolls it out to Florian Wirtz.

He skips past the challenge of Eric Dier and takes a sore one on the thigh.

A bit of a dead leg, I think.
