Harriers sign Hargreaves following Thompson exit

Kidderminster Harriers have signed midfielder Cameron Hargreaves following the exit of Seb Thompson.

Hargreaves, 27, who began his career at Exeter City, made his debut with Bristol City before drifting into non-league with King's Lynn Town - and spent last season at Aldershot.

He is the son of former Torquay United boss and ex-Grimsby Town, Hull City, Hereford United, Plymouth Argyle and Northampton Town midfielder Chris Hargreaves.

He is in contention to make his Harriers debut at Roots Hall on Friday night as the Worcestershire side go into the busy bank holiday weekend with another long away trip to Essex to face Southend.

After starting the season with a 3-0 defeat at Hornchurch, promoted Harriers have picked up four points from their first two home games under new boss Paul Wotton, beating Eastleigh and drawing with Aldershot.

"Seb Thompson goes with our best wishes," Wotton told BBC Hereford & Worcester. "Through his representatives, Seb made it very clear that he didn't want to be at the football club any more.

"I'm not going to accept anyone who doesn't want to play for Kidderminster Harriers in my squad, so Seb leaves.

"We need everyone united and pulling the same way. We need everyone together."

The former Derby County and Burnley youth player, who was on Liverpool's books as a schoolboy and is a nephew of former England striker Daniel Sturridge, was in his second spell at Harriers.

Thompson, 23, scored on his debut after arriving at Aggborough in the summer of 2024, but spent the final two months of that season out on loan at Rushall Olympic - and was then loaned out last season to another National League North club Leamington.
