That was a really hard round for the pair of them. They had to dig deep there, they both got caught with big shots. They both suddenly looked like they have been in a 10 round fight. In round six or seven they looked fresh. Now they look tired!

  6. Round tenpublished at 22:03 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

Smith lands with a lovely right early in the tenth but again Puello responds.

This time it is a right hook and a lovely left from the southpaw.

Smith rushes in and tries to unload on Puello on the ropes but the slippery challenger pivots away smartly.

The pair exhange before the bell. This is so close. Good luck to the judges...

  7. 'He controlled that round'published at 22:01 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

Good round from Puello. He's getting a bit closer, looking more relaxed. He's looping in body shots, I'm not saying that they are hurting Dalton but they are certainty making him think. That was a good round, I don't think he just nicked it, he controlled that round.

  8. Round ninepublished at 22:00 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

Smith's dad and trainer Grant calls that round "beautiful" from his son at the end of the ninth.

Ismael Salas is animated in the other corner, too.

  9. Round ninepublished at 21:59 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

What a shot! Smith moves in with a sharp double jab and then lands with a right hook.

Puello starts to go on the front foot and he lands with a strong left uppercut to the body and follows it up with a hook to the head.

Smith's double jab works again. This is brilliant from both.

  10. Round eightpublished at 21:55 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

Smith lands with a good right to the body at the start of the eighth.

It is tricky for the defending champion to get his feet outside Puello's stance because of the distance the challenger has between them.

However, Smith gets success with following up his right hand with a left.

There was a couple of stiff jabs from Puello, though. Another close round. This is tight.

  11. Smith started to 'up the tempo a little bit'published at 21:53 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

    Richie Woodhall
Former boxing world champion on BBC Radio 5 Live

[Dalton Smith] started to up the tempo a little bit and the work rate. He actually made Puello punch back.

Puello's punches are a little bit slower than Dalton's, so when he throws his shots, he's a little be more vulnerable and open to counters.

  12. Round sevenpublished at 21:51 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

Smith's dad and trainer Grant was not happy in the corner before the seventh.

The Sheffield man is overly reliant on that right hand and not using his jab enough in the seventh.

It is making it harder to get inside the range of Puello.

There was not much between them in that round. Both men exchanged body shots right before the bell while Puello got through with a jab over the top.

  13. Puello is 'back on track'published at 21:48 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

    Steve Bunce
Boxing expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

[Puello] had to get himself back on track because the fight wasn't just slipping away, he was losing it. It was gone. It was busy at the start of the round and he finished well.

  14. Round sixpublished at 21:47 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

That talk in the corner from his trainer seems to have injected more life into Puello as he starts the sixth strongly with some good left hands.

The Dominican fighter is down briefly but it is rightly ruled a slip as he lost his footing on the canvas.

Smith tries to respond and does get through with a right but he takes a couple more lefts from the southpaw before the bell.

The Sheffield man might need to find another gear here.

  15. Postpublished at 21:44 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Sheffield Wednesday footballer Barry Bannan speaking to 5 Live reporter at the fight: "I think [Dalton Smith] has started well. I think the bigger punches have come from Dalton, he normally takes a bit of time to get into the fight, but I think it's starting to pick up now.

On winning by stoppage: "I hope so, I spoke to him this morning and he just wants to win at all cost. I think the last fight, which he won by knockout gave him great confidence for tonight.

  16. Round fivepublished at 21:44 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

This is a fight being decided by both men's backhands.

Puello lands a good left at the start of the fifth before Smith responds again with another right.

Smith popped out a good jab and later in the round caught the challenger with a good left hook as he came in to launch his own attack.

It may not be an all out slug fest but it is a brilliant technical fight.

Puello's trainer Ismael Salas is speaking furiously in Spanish in the corner to his man. He needs to do more if he is going to take the title here.

  18. Round fourpublished at 21:39 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

This is a highly-skilled match up between two top technical operators but Smith is edging it.

That right hand again lands from Smith early in the fourth but Puello finds range with his left again.

The challenger is then short with a couple more lefts. Smith is dictating the pace and gets through with another right just before the bell.

  19. 'A more aggressive Dalton'published at 21:37 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

    Steve Bunce
Boxing expert on BBC Radio 5 Live

A more aggressive Dalton. He looks desperate to get that left, and then the follow through right. And you can see why. I'm a little bit surprised that Puello can't work from his back foot, there's nothing there at all. Dalton has worked out that if he can push him back, he's not going to catch me.

  20. Round threepublished at 21:35 BST 24 October

    Smith v Puello

Puello missed with a left hand from his southpaw stance and Smith punished him with a great counter right hand.

Smith is really timing the moment to jump in with the right hand and Puello is not reacting quick enough to get out of the way or respond well.

Still a close round but Smith looks more in his rhythm.

Smith's dad and trainer Grant is happy with that but does warn his son "not to lead with the right hand".
