Special courts for domestic violence 15 October 2004

How necessary are they?

A pilot programme is due to start in Glasgow to try out special courts for domestic violence.

Its aim is to fast track domestic violence cases and provide a better service to victims. Several similar courts have already been set up in England and Wales.

But rather than providing alternative courts, shouldn't regular courts be able to deal adequately with such cases? Martha talks to Professor Dee Cook, from the policy research institute at the University of Wolverhampton, who has reviewed the five existing domestic violence courts.
