Do they really help stop abuse?
Domestic violence accounts for a quarter of all violent crime and it's something that one in four women will experience. There have been a number of programmes to try and make men address their behaviour, but many of the schemes have been criticised for being a soft option.
Now a programme brought over from America and piloted in Yorkshire is due to be rolled out to the rest of the country.
John describes how he ended the cycle of violence against his partner after attending the special course for men who abuse women.
Jenni asks whether this course is any different and discusses the issues with Damien Carnell from Nottingham Domestic Violence Forum and Liz Hill, Head of the Public Protection Unit for the Probation Service.
