A rescue pug has been named this year's ugliest dog in one of the more unusual contests.
The World's Ugliest Dog competition marked its 50th year at the Sonoma County Fair in California.
Jinny Lu, who was rescued from South Korea and was a runner-up in 2025, was crowned the winner.
The organisers of the contest say it isn't about making fun of "ugly" dogs - it's about showing the world that these dogs are truly beautiful.

Pinky, an albino Pomeranian Chihuahua, took second place. Albino dogs have white or cream fur and light-coloured eyes, pink eye rims and pink noses.

The World's Ugliest Dog contest celebrates the differences which make dogs unique and seeks to encourage more people to adopt dogs. Many of the dogs that take part are rescue pups.

Many of the dogs have competed before - Poppy, a Chinese Crested Dog, came third last year.

Some of the dogs wear eye-catching outfits, like this competitor's fetching red bow tie which matches its owner's waistcoat.

Otto, an adorable Chihuahua mix with a severe double cleft lip and cleft palate, won third place.
