Team Wales swimmer Matt Richards claimed his first Commonwealth Games individual medal after winning silver in the 100m freestyle final.

It was his third medal in Glasgow after earlier claiming two bronze relay medals.

Flynn Southam won gold and his fellow Australian Kyle Chalmers earned bronze.

"I'm over the moon," said Richards.

"Anytime you're stood on the podium, it's always going to be special but every time it's for Wales, it just makes it that little bit more."

It was a fifth medal for Wales in the pool, while Olympic champion Richards will compete in the 200m freestyle on the final day of action on Wednesday.

"I've been fortunate this week to be able to stand on the podium three times, which has been incredible," said Richards.

"I'm also aware two of those are bronze, one's a silver, and I've not yet got the one colour I'm looking for and I'll be looking to put that right."

Richards' medal was Wales' 10th official medal of the Games with the three silvers and six bronze bettered by the gold achieved by gymnast Ruby Evans earlier today.

There will definitely be an 11th medal after boxer Connor Williams reached the semi-finals.

Para-swimmer Ela Letton-Jones, who won Wales' first medal when she claimed silver in the 100m, finished sixth fastest in the women's 50m freestyle S13 finals.

Theodora Taylor, 17, qualified sixth fastest for the 50m freestyle final on Wednesday but Meghan Higgs missed out.

Jack Knight bowed out of the men’s 100m backstroke semi-finals, while Alexandra Bastone placed 10th in the 800m freestyle.

There was drama in the men's 50m butterfly semi-final when Wales' Lewis Fraser and Nigeria's Abduljabar Adama qualified joint fastest eighth.

Fraser had posted a personal best and Welsh record in the semi-final.

This meant a very rare swim-off was organised at 22:10 BST for a place in Wednesday's final which Adama won.

Welsh sprinter Jeremiah Azu has made it through to tonight's 100m final in Glasgow (21:14 BST).

Azu, who finished fifth in the final in Birmingham four years ago, finished second in his semi-final in a time of 10.00 seconds.

It was a season's best for the 25-year-old and just 0.03 seconds off his personal best.

His time was equal fourth best from the three semi-finals.

Wales secured their first netball win at the Commonwealth Games with a polished display against Trinidad & Tobago.

Georgia Rowe scored 32 goals and Nansi Kuti 23 in the 74-30 victory in Pool B, which followed disappointing defeats to Scotland and Uganda.

Wales dominated the first two quarters to put the result beyond doubt, leading 43-19 at half-time against a side who had already conceded 238 goals in their first three games.

That allowed coach Emily Handyside to make significant changes throughout the match, with 19-year-old wing attack Lowri Windsor making her debut.

Wales' remaining games are against the two strongest sides in Pool B, New Zealand on Wednesday and Jamaica on Thursday.

Charlotte Whalley finished eighth in the 63kg weightlifting competition.

Whalley was a late addition to Team Wales after receiving a reallocated qualification spot.

She combined for 186kg after an 82kg snatch and a personal best of 104kg in the clean and jerk.

Canada's Maude Charron took gold with a Commonwealth Games record score of 232kg.

Both her 102kg snatch and 130kg clean and jerk were Games records, with England's Sarah Davies Smale claiming silver with 217kg.

Heavyweight Connor Williams has guaranteed himself at least a bronze medal after winning his quarter-final bout against Niue's Duken Holo Tutakitoa-Williams by split decision.

Four out of five judges scored the cagey fight in the Swansea boxer's favour as team-mates Rosie Eccles and Owain Harris-Allan cheered on from the stands.

"I'm very happy with a bronze medal," Williams said.

"Anything less, I'd be disappointed but I'm not done yet, I'm gunning for that gold medal.

"I've had two good wins now. I'm building a lot of momentum, I feel like I'm destined for this."

Earlier in the session Helen Jones lost her women's 54kg quarter-final against England's Lauren Mackie by unanimous decision.

Wales will have Harris-Allan, Eccles, Orlando Holley-Sotomi, Niamh Brookes and Daniel Pitt are in quarter-final bouts on Wednesday.

Welsh gymnast Ruby Evans finished seventh in the balance beam final that was won by Australia's Breanna Scott.

Evans pulled out of Monday's uneven bars final as identical twins Abigail and Emily Roper created a bit of history by both winning bronze on the vault and uneven bars respectively within a couple of hours of each other.

Wales women had also finished fourth in the team event.

Also today, Elliot Vernon finished seventh in the parallel bars final at 14:50 BST and Alexander Niscoveanu was the same position in the horizontal bar final.

Para-swimmer Ela Letton-Jones began her campaign for a second Commonwealth Games medal by qualifying fifth fastest for tonight's women's 50m freestyle S13 heat.

Letton-Jones, who won Wales first medal at the Commonwealth Games when she claimed silver in the 100m, will go in the final at 19:32 BST in Glasgow.

This will be just after Matt Richards aims for his first Commonwealth Games individual medal in the men's 100m freestyle final at 19:18 BST.

Lewis Fraser (50m butterfly), Meghan Higgs and Theodora Taylor (women's 50m freestyle heats) and Jack Knight (men's 100m backstroke) qualified for semi-finals.

Charlotte Henrich and Justin Davies are safely through to their respective semi-finals after the second morning of competition for Welsh athletes at Scotstoun Stadium.

Henrich, 19, ran the third fastest time in qualifying as she won her 400m heat in a time of 52.13 seconds.

The top eight-ranked athletes will join at the semi-final stage on Thursday where Henrich says she'd be "disappointed" if she doesn't make Saturday's final.

Having run a personal best 11 days ago, Henrich says if the wind settles down that the track could be fast enough to see her break the Welsh record again for the third time in six weeks.

Davies finished second in his 800m heat in a time of 1:46.98.

He came into the race seeded fifth and says second place "was a dream come true."

"I've always been building back into the season came back from an injury, that last 100m is my strength and to get that back and show what I'm made of, that's terrific."

The 23-year-old's semi-final will also be on Thursday, when the top eight-ranked athletes join the competition.
