Read MoreFollowing claims conditions at Stepping Hill Hospital are forcing staff to care for patients in "buildings that are literally crumbling around them", Mike Sweeney asked Streeting what the government planned to do about the current state of disrepair.
Streeting told BBC Radio Manchester, “I’m on the case. I met the Stockport MP just last week to talk about this".
“We’ve put £2.5m in already for some of the essential safety works and we've given the local trust £75m over the next four years as well.
“But I know that this is something that local MPs and councillors are banging the drum for, so people should start seeing improvements at Stepping Hill, but there is lots more to do.”
This comes after a Department of Health and Social Care spokesperson previously said the government inherited a "broken NHS", with the hospital estate left to crumble.
"We are providing Stepping Hill Hospital with over £2.5m this year for targeted essential safety works, including fire safety improvements.
"In addition, Stockport NHS Foundation Trust has been allocated over £75m over the next four years which can be used to improve conditions at Stepping Hill."

The motorway reopened late on Friday afternoon after remaining closed for much of the day.

Fury said he is being supported by his family, who are "big fans of Children in Need".
The boxer, who has a two-year-old daughter Bambi with fellow reality star Molly-Mae Hague, said he would love her to meet the charity's famous mascot Pudsey one day, "so we'll see if we can make the duo happen".
"People in my position and people with big platforms should be doing as much charity work as possible," he added. "If it's charity work I'll be there - any time, any place, anywhere.”
As he approached the finish line, Fury joked that he was "starting to break a sweat" on the challenge and did not have the energy for a "sprint finish".
