Here's the final breakdown for Leeds City Council after today's results.

Labour’s control over the authority was lost after falling from 56 seats to 48.

They required at least 50 to maintain an overall majority.

Overall turnout was 41.49%.

Over in Kirklees, it was triple trouble for party leaders on the council.

John Lawson, who led the Lib Dems, lost his seat in Cleckheaton after 16 years. He vows he will "absolutely" be back.

David Hall, who led the Conservatives, was also defeated in Liversedge & Gomersal, having first been elected in 2004.

It comes after Labour group leader on Kirklees Council, Carole Pattison, lost her seat earlier.

The word from the count is that Labour has lost overall control in Leeds.

There are 99 seats on the council, so a party would need more than 50 elected councillors for a majority.

Bradford Council leader Susan Hinchcliffe has just lost her Windhill and Wrose seat.

The ward was won by Reform UK councillors Sally Jane Birch, Stephen Broadbent and Chris Howlett.

Hinchcliffe, who has been the council leader for a decade, thanks her Labour colleagues and says she is very proud of the legacy she leaves behind.

"It's disappointing for Labour councillors who have worked so hard and are absolute heroes for the district," she says.

She adds: "No matter what the result is today, the answer is not Nigel Farage."

Daniel Sutherland, leader of the Reform UK group on Calderdale Council, has retained his seat.

It means the party has already surpassed the three councillors it had on the council prior to yesterday's vote, with plenty of seats still to be declared.

Sutherland was re-elected in Illingworth and Mixenden with 1,739 votes.

Reform UK's Sarah Wood, who has won the Liversedge and Gomersal seat, says people on doorsteps in Kirklees have been sharing "a lot of apathy with the establishment".

"There was also a ground swell of 'we just need a change' and need to turn the ship around, along with a willingness to have faith," she says.

Wood adds that it's "not over yet", but it "does not look great for Labour".

There's some good news for Labour in Bradford - council deputy leader Imran Khan keeps his seat in Bowling and Barkerend alongside his party colleagues Rizwana Jamil and Hassan Khan.

Labour received 4,034 votes in the ward, with Your Bradford Independent Group coming second with 3,334 votes.

The first result for Calderdale is in, with Reform UK securing three seats in Brighouse.

Darren Commons, Mark Kimberlin and Stephen Mycroft received 1538, 1470 and 1484 votes respectively.

Bradford has gone from no Reform UK representation to six councillors - in Wyke and Queensbury - and only four wards have been declared so far.

Reform campaign manager Oliver Williams, 28, who is standing for the Royds ward, says they are "over the moon" so far.

"The message from the doorstep really is that people are desperate for change," he says.

"For too long people feel that Bradford has just gone into decline, and we're here to offer a fresh new alternative to get the basics right and hopefully deliver a better future."

James Lewis, Leeds City Council leader, admits it has been a "really difficult day" for the party in Leeds, adding it reflected a nationwide trend.

"It's not all been one-way traffic, but we have seen some disappointing results today," he says.

"Some really good, hard-working councillors have lost their seats."

Wakefield has seen an overall turnout of 36.6% - the highest in 10 years.

From what I've been told, it sounds like many people who have avoiding voting for many years and first-time voters made the decision to get to the polls yesterday.

As it’s an 'all-out' election with every seat up for grabs, people feel their vote really matters and can influence the look of the entire local authority.

The first Reform UK seats have been won in Bradford, as Ian Reed, Adam Thompson-Day and Ian Walker are declared for Wyke.

The area was previously represented by Labour councillors Tom Hughes, Sarah Ferriby and Andy Walsh.

Some of these figures are usually only hit for general elections, so this is very significant.

The leaders of Kirklees Council's Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat groups have now all lost their seats today.

Kirklees' Labour group leader Carole Pattison is managing a smile, despite the Greens and Reform UK ripping through the red-rosetted ranks she took into local election battle.

Pattison will remain group leader until a Labour meeting on Sunday, but it's unclear if there will be a Kirklees Council Labour group to lead as the party is yet to win a single seat.

Nilesh Chohan, who ousted Leeds City Council deputy leader Jonathan Pryor in the Headingley and Hyde Park ward, says he is "immensely proud" to represent the area where he has lived his entire life.

Pryor is a big figure in Leeds Labour circles, so this was quite the seat to win.

Chohan says he is "looking forward to working with the whole of the Headingley and Hyde Park ward".

He pledges to uphold the "Green values" of community cohesion.

The Greens have held all three seats in Holmewood and Bierley, including the seat of their Bradford leader Matt Edwards.

Reform UK took the second largest vote share, followed by Labour, the Conservatives and the Lib Dems.

Asked if his party's early success could be the start of a good day, Edwards says: "We shall see. Five-party politics is something new for all of us and there's a lot that can change."

Kirklees' Labour group leader Carole Pattison has lost her Greenhead ward seat to the Greens.

When asked about the afternoon's events so far, she said she was "seriously concerned" about the lack of experience those making gains had in local politics.

Pattison added: "The message has been 'get Starmer out', but this is about local services, Starmer isn't standing in this election."

Counting has restarted in Wakefield, where Reform UK have picked up 31 of the 33 seats declared so far.

Meanwhile, Labour - the current ruling party - is yet to win a seat, and council leader Denise Jeffery lost hers.
