One ticket hopeful has pointed out that there has been a tweak to the queuing system since coach tickets were sold out on Thursday.

Paul Clement points out that people are now required to put their registration number and postcode before entering the virtual waiting room.

The first batch of tickets sold out in less than half an hour on Thursday, with thousands left staring at the dreaded two green bars.

Duncan Smith is one of the thousands of people hoping to secure tickets for Glastonbury 2027.

The 43-year-old from Devon is trying to secure tickets for his wife and four friends.

"Last year we were lucky, one of the group logged in late and got straight through to purchase," he says.

"Being on at 9am like everyone else didn't work, being yards won us our prize. Hoping today is just as lucky."

We've just heard back from Paul Farrugia.

The 11-time Glastonbury veteran was in position at his desk at about 07:50 with a painting of the Pyramid stage in front of him and the Glastonbury website open.

Farrugia - who has a 100% track record of tickets - told the BBC earlier that festival hopefuls should not use multiple devices or refresh their tab - or you could get kicked out of the queue.

Glastonbury has posted a range of tips on its Instagram ahead of the ticket sale.

The festival says:

• Make sure your devices OS and browser are up to date
• Clear your cookies and cache in advance
• Disable ad blockers
• Do not use a VPN or browser plug ins
• Do not refresh the page
• Do not use multiple tabs or sessions

One Glastonbury fan has said he prefers the old ticketing system, because it rewarded "organisation and hard work".

Mike Jennings, from London, says that he was previously able to buy tickets 30 minutes after it was announced that the event was sold out a few years ago "by just not giving up and staying on the page."

The 32-year-old says that now you know within 30 seconds if you are getting through based on whether the bar moves straight away or whether you're left stranded on "the dreaded two green bars".

"No ticket system will ever be perfect and people will always find ways to cheat it, but I prefer the old ways compared to this current system," he adds.

Glasto superfan Jessi Dimmock first went to the festival aged 18, and has been lucky enough to go every year since.

Last year, however, Dimmock's streak was broken. She missed out on buying tickets and only managed to get into the festival by volunteering with a charity.

"It's got progressively harder to get tickets," Dimmock, who runs a fan podcast called Glastocast and even has a Glastonbury tattoo, says.

She posits that social media could be contributing to a higher demand for tickets. Although the BBC has long provided live TV coverage of Glastonbury, "people are now posting from the field as well... It gets into more peoples' minds", Dimmock, now aged 37, says.

She's "very nervous" about bagging tickets today but has also "manifested enough" and feels optimistic.

Dimmock's friends have organised themselves into six groups of six in a bid to increase their chances of getting tickets. Their dedicated WhatsApp group will likely be pinging all morning.

Despite no Glastonbury headliners being announced yet, Dimmock has a wish list.

"I'm a rock girl at heart - I’ve been waiting for the year that AC/DC will play," she says.

She would also be extremely happy to see Lady Gaga and Harry Styles on the Pyramid Stage, while the Spice Girls (the full line-up, including Posh Spice) would be "legendary".

Glastonbury ticket-seekers are used to pulling out all the stops to get through the fabled two green bars.

And since this year's ticketing system seems to be a bit of a roll of the dice, the previous tried-and-true methods of multiple tabs, rapid-refreshing and several devices won't likely work.

Some are calling on the universe to intervene instead, hoping to sway the Glasto gods in their favour.

Cherry, from south London, has set up this offering plate - complete with candles and tarot cards - in the hope that manifestation will push the queue in her favour. She tells me she's got cards representing each of her friends, plus extras that indicate going on a trip, celebrating and success.

Thousands of people across the country will be trying their luck to secure tickets, so it pays to be prepared.

Here's a few tips and tricks that might help:

• Check your registration: You can book up to 6 tickets per transaction, so make sure you have everyone's registration details and postcodes at the ready. If your details are entered incorrectly, your registration numbers will be locked for up to 10 minutes
• Don't fall for scam websites: Tickets are sold at glastonbury.seetickets.com, external and nowhere else
• Log on early: In 2024, Glastonbury introduced a new queueing system that required you to log on in advance. You'll be randomly assigned a place in the queue, so people who join later will be automatically placed at the back of the line
• Don't refresh the page or use multiple devices: This could get you kicked out of the queue
• Have your payment information ready: This year tickets cost £408. If you get through, you will be charged a deposit of £100 per person, with the remaining balance of £308 plus a £11.25 postage fee due in April 2027
• Check your email: Once you've secured your tickets be sure to check for email confirmation, including your junk folder
• Don't despair: If you're not one of the lucky ones, there's still hope. In April, a number of returned or unwanted tickets will be put up for sale

Paul Farrugia, the writer of the 100% Unofficial Glastonbury Festival Guidebook, external, is gearing up to get tickets to his 12th Glastonbury.

He has a 100% track record of getting tickets, although on occasion he has had to wait until the April resale to secure tickets.

Farrugia, who went to his first Glastonbury in the "Jay-Z year" in 2008, usually uses his iPad, phone and laptop and refreshed the pages to get tickets.

But things are different this year and Farrugia warns people to not use multiple devices or refresh their tab - there's a risk you could be kicked out of the queue.

This year, he will be using one device with a solid Wi-Fi connection and sitting with a strong coffee and starring down the "green bars of doom".

"There's no rhyme or reason," he tells me. "It's literally a lottery."

But Farrugia says the new system, which requires festival goers to submit their reference number to join the queue, has created a "much more level playing field".

So what other tips does the unofficial Glastonbury writer and podcaster have?

Do not give up until tickets have officially sold out, he says. Even if allocations appear to be gone, some payments may fail and tickets could become available.

Glastonbury warns that tickets are sold exclusively at glastonbury.seetickets.com, external. Only See Tickets are authorised to sell tickets for the festival.

Would-be attendees must already be registered with the festival to make a purchase and can buy up to six tickets each, with a deposit of £100 per ticket.

The remaining £308 per ticket will then be payable in the first week of April 2027, and it will be possible to add car parking passes and cancellation protection to bookings.

Glastonbury 2027 tickets will go on sale at 09:00 BST. For many, this morning will be preoccupied with group chats, spreadsheets and plenty of waiting.

Thousands of people will be trying their luck - but tickets for the festival typically sell out in less than an hour and competition is tight.

Laptops will be on and hopeful festival-goers will be watching attentively as a loading bar decides their fate in the scramble for Glastonbury tickets.

For the first time, tickets have breached the £400 mark as entry to the festival in Worthy Farm, Somerset, will set you back £408 - in 1970 it cost just £1.
