    Bell says he had the privilege of looking after her on a day-to-day basis her for the past 22 years.

    "She trusted me with everything - well except one thing - she did not trust me, even after 52 years, with seeing her without her eyelashes.

    "She once slammed the door and told me to come back when she was ready."

    Despite hearing her sing for more than 50 years, he says she still gave him goosebumps with her "unique and incredible voice".

    "My friend, I am going to miss her."

    Bell says Tyler loved her family and would "knock out anyone that said anything against them".

    "Gaynor had a big family - as you can see today - but she never forgot a birthday, anniversary or special occasion wherever she was in the world.

    "She was a beautiful person inside and out with her big blue eyes smiling at you.

    "She was full of life, with a big smile and a great sense of humour and naturally funny."

    Bell says Tyler was proud to be Welsh and was "a fantastic ambassador for Swansea and Wales and told everyone how wonderful it was".

    "She loved her house in Mumbles and spent as much time as she could there.

    "She also loved Portugal and made sure we did also - drinks around the pool and out for dinner for peri peri chicken."

    Bell says he came back to Swansea in 1979 to work for Gaynor and Robert and has "been with them forever since - 47 years".

    "I would not change a thing. Gaynor was one of a kind, you always knew where you stood with her. She said it like it was.

    "I'm sure a lot of people here would have experienced that."

    Bell says Tyler recorded the songs with Ronnie and Dave Mackay, but it was two years before she had the news that RCA records had signed her.

    "And she went on to have hits with Lost in France and It's a Heartache with them," he says.

    "Gaynor said she was lucky that I walked on to the wrong floor when she was singing.

    "But I was the lucky one as I have had 52 years of a special love and friendship with her that I will always treasure."

    Bell says: "I went back to Valley Music in London and told my boss Ronnie Scott that I had heard a girl singer that maybe might like to sing one of his new songs that he had just written.

    "A couple of weeks later Gaynor was on a train to Paddington to demo the song.

    "She tells the story of her mother and brother and sister standing by the track in Skewen waving madly as she passed on a train.

    "She was only in London for the day, but it was her first trip to London on her own."

    Talent scout Roger Bell opens his tribute to Tyler by calling her a "global iconic superstar".

    He says he first saw Gaynor in 1974 when he travelled from Swansea to London to see his friend and first laid eyes on her at the Townsman Club.

    "There was a girl singing on stage, I listened for a while and liked what I'd heard."

    Davies says: "1969 was a big year because Gaynor met her soulmate Robert in The Townsman.

    "She fell in love instantly - he was so funny, so handsome, and so that was it. They started courting, they got engaged in 1972.

    "He went to Tokyo for eight months to train for the Olympics. They wrote to each other every day without fail."

    During this period, he says she would spend time at the beach during the summer.

    "Usually Caswell. 'Best time I ever had', she'd say.

    "With snacks, drink and notebook in hand, she was just so happy. Our glamorous couple married at St John's Church in Skewen.

    "We have reached 1975 and it's at that point her life changed forever."

  11. Tyler won £1 for coming second in rugby club singing contestpublished at 12:32 BST 17 August

    Davies says Tyler suffered from tuberculosis, which left her with scars on her lungs.

    He says her love of cycling seems to help and, to have gone through all of that and to have sung for 50 years, is a "miracle".

    In 1967, she left school on a Friday and by Monday was working at a cash and carry.

    He says she spent years singing with a hairbrush in front of a mirror, and soon entered a singing competition at a rugby club.

    She came second and won just £1, singing Those were the Days by Mary Hopkin.

    "She was hooked," he says.

    "The rest, as they say, is history."

    Davies says: "By 1962, two important events had happened. At 11 years old Gaynor started comprehensive school. She was not the greatest fan.

    "The second event was to be big sister again, to the new baby brother Paul.

    "It was a special time for Gaynor. She couldn't wait to get home from school to be with him, she still called him her baby brother even though he's about 64."

    Davies says: "1954 was when Gaynor had to start school, unfortunately her father had tuberculosis.

    "Gaynor never forgot that trauma of her and her mother being so upset, saying goodbye at the school gates. It seemed such a long day without each other.

    "In 1955 it was Gaynor's turn to become a big sister, she was so excited... Gaynor mothered her [Avis] as she got older."

    "On behalf of Robert and all of Gaynor's family and friends, I thank you for gathering in and around Swansea minster today."

    He also reached out to the people around the UK and the world watching online.

    Reverend Canon Justin Davies starts with what he calls a three-part eulogy of the life and times of Gaynor.

    "A cute baby girl took her first breath on 8 June 1951. A star was born to Elsie and Glyndwr Hopkins and the best was yet to come. They just didn't know it yet.

    "Music filled the family home with their mother's operatic voice which was heavenly to listen to."

    Tyler's coffin was designed by her family to reflect her musical passion, with a microphone and treble clef engraved on each side.

    At the head of the coffin is an engraving of a cross that she wore and was designed by jeweller Spencer Morgan.

    There were loud cheers from the crowds, with many shouting "thank you Bonnie" as her coffin entered the church to the tune of her hit single If I Sing you a Love Song.
