Taiwan braces for worst of Champi on Saturdaypublished at 09:47 BST
Typhoon Champi has shut Taiwan and forced the cancellation of hundreds of flights as it churned closer to the island's north-east coast today.
One person died and 171 others were injured, while thousands of households in Japan's Okinawa islands, just north of Taiwan, suffered power outages.
But the worst of the typhoon is yet to come as it's forecast to bring up to 90cm (35in) of rain until Saturday.
After passing over north-east Taiwan, Champi is forecast to hover close to Okinawa, then China's eastern coast, before manoeuvering north-east towards mainland Japan.
