How to make a handprint bonfire painting

Make sure to ask a grown-up for help!

Before you start, don't forget to wear clothes that you don't mind getting paint on and clean the paint from your hands before using a new colour!

Instructions:

1. Put different coloured paints in separate trays.

2. When you're ready to start your painting, put clean hands into a tray of paint and then place them on your canvas (this could be a large piece of paper, canvas or an old sheet - you might need some friends to help you!)

3. Cover your painting with different handprint colours to create the bonfire effect.

4. When your bonfire picture is dry, shine a light behind it to make it glow!

What is Bonfire Night?

Bonfire Night is a British festival held every year on 5th November. It marks when Guy Fawkes and his group were stopped in their plan to set fire to the Houses of Parliament, as part of the Gunpowder Plot in 1605. In the UK people gather outdoors around big bonfires, watch firework displays and enjoy traditional treats like toffee apples.
