Customise your old school bag

Customise your old school bag and turn it into something unique! It's a great way to recycle, get creative and stand out from the crowd. We'll show you a few fun ideas to get started, but you can decorate your bag however you like. Just make sure you ask an adult before using scissors or glue.

You will need
  • 3 different shades of fabric
  • Fabric glue
  • Scissors
  • Buttons
  • Pipe cleaners
  • Badges
  • An old school bag
  • You can also use fabric pens, sequins, gems, stickers, glitter and anything else you want to stick onto your bag!

🚨Be careful when using sharp objects, ask a grown-up to help you!🚨

How to customise your old back pack

1. Once you have all of your customising materials, measure a piece of felt to the pocket on your school bag and cut it out (if you don't have a pocket, measure how much fabric you will need to cover the space you desire). This will be the pocket felt.

2. Then, take a different colour piece of felt and cut a strip to the width of your fabric.

3. Cut out some triangle shapes and use the fabric glue to stick this piece of felt onto the pocket felt.

4. Do the same with another colour...

5. We have used some extra felt to create an aztec kind of pattern. To do this, cut out some triangles and diamonds.

6. Then, you need to stick this down to the pocket of your bag with the fabric glue.

7. Let this dry for a while, about 3-4 hours, then check out your awesome new school bag!

8. If you don't have any felt, you can try loads of other things. You could use a different material, buttons, pipe cleaners and badges!
