For Filipe Dores, Macao isn’t just his home, it’s a continual source of artistic inspiration. From a child exploring the city’s streets to becoming an artist, art teacher and lecturer, he has experienced first-hand the evolution of the city and wants to preserve it in his work. Filipe’s paintings showcase the city’s diverse architecture, often with the glow of Macao’s traditional gas lights. He finds inspiration on hidden streets as the sun goes down, painting the city with new colours and a warm ambiance, a reflection of its vibrant cultural canvas. It’s to these peaceful moments that Filipe hopes to transport viewers of his paintings, to see Macao’s harmony of cultures as he does.
A love of art runs deep in Macao, as evidenced by the city’s biennial art festival Art Macao. Spread across the city’s galleries, and with special exhibits in the integrated resorts, the festival brings international names to Macao to inspire both visitors and the local art community.
Watch the film and join Filipe on a journey around Macao, discovering inspiration and the best of Art Macao.
