Wet Wet Wet!

Paul Tomkinson braved the elements at Weston Park for Staffordshire's biggest music festival. Check out his review of the 2007 V Festival.

No really they weren't playing over the weekend, but the festival if you were there was wet wet and muddy but that didn't put me off or over 80,000 other music fans who attended probably one of the best V festivals I've been to, and I've been to a few about 10 in total, a well organised laid back festival with ample parking and loads of information to help you over the whole weekend.

This year's line up was spot on starting for me on Saturday was Rodrigo and Gabriela excellent guitar strumming to warm up the crowd, then it was over to the Channel 4 stage to the Hours who I had not seen before and must admit were pretty good, the lead singer decided to join in with the wet theme by tipping a bottle of ice cold water over his head, the crowd lapped it up.

The other bands amongst others that I managed to see on the Saturday were James Morrison still a crowd pleaser, Mika not for everyone and not my cup of tea but he was ace on stage a great performer.

Kasabian rocked the crowds

The best band for me on the Saturday and with the response from the crowds was Kasabian who have been to V a few times before, they still rocked their fans, getting ever closer to that headline spot. To complete Saturday on the main stage was a light fantastic performance from the Killers - what a band.

As for Sunday even more rain and mud, at this point I traded my Vans in for some wellies - best decision ever, and after stocking up on a full English breakfast or what I thought was the next best thing, I was ready to see another great line up probably better than Saturday.

Just Jack with stars in his eyes. The brilliant Proclaimers or was that (Little Britain). One of the highlights of the weekend was that I got to take photos in the pit and to get into the VIP area - Ohoo nice loos yeah.

Part of the day we were joined by the fantastic Holloways. They performed in a small tent and did a exclusive 6 songs for about 20 people it was great, and nice to be there.

Foos steal the show

But overall for me and I think for many others, the Foos stole the show. What a band. They've trodden this ground before but Dave Grohl is a god and now he's starting to even look like one! He'll probably be around for just as long as well!

But wow what a cracking gig - especially as he performed twice. His secret slot on the Channel 4 stage as 606 with some of his new tracks was a nice warm up for Foo fans. Then the Foos finished off the festival on the main stage on Sunday. What a way to round off the night.

A wet and muddy weekend but well worth it - can't wait till the next V. Brilliant!!!
