Newcastle Vipers gave their Challenge Cup qualification hopes a boost with a win against Edinburgh on Sunday.
Both sides held the lead before David Longstaff got the crucial fifth goal in a 5-4 win at Whitley Bay Arena.
The result was marred after player-coach Rob Wilson was sent to the stands for arguing with the referee.
Saturday saw Vipers grind out a 5-2 win against Basingstoke Bison in the Elite League thanks to two goals from forward Derek Campbell.
