Guernsey bowler Andrew Crimp won a bronze medal in the Special Olympics in Leicester on Monday.

The 43-year-old won two of his qualifying matches but he was off his stride in the third which he lost 10-6.

In the bronze medal match, the Guernsey bowler fought his way back from 3-0 down to win the match 10-6 against Fife bowler Gary Handyside.

Team coach Charlie Renouf said, "Had he played like that in the previous match I am sure he would have won the gold."

Guernsey has four bowls players at the event, who will all be going forward to compete in the pairs contest.
