Mansfield Town striker Mark Stallard has spoken to manager David Holdsworth about his future and says he has no plans to hang up his boots just yet.
Stallard, 34, had a spell as joint caretaker boss this term but insists he still has plenty to offer as a player either at Field Mill or elsewhere.
"I've spoken to the manager at length and it's more a family-based decision," he told BBC Radio Nottingham.
"I can't see any reason why I can't continue playing."
Stallard, the club's top-scorer with nine goals this season, shared the caretaker manager duties with Adie Moses and the four-game spell, which yielded six points, has whet his appetite for coaching.
He said: "That's something that I'll certainly be interested in but I believe there's life in the old dog as a player - maybe not much but I'll keep going!
"I'm still top-scorer at this club so that's a little fillip for me. If I can get to the end of the season and have that mantle then that's decent for me."
