FA to investigate Lincoln brawl

The Football Association has said it will investigate the brawl between the Lincoln City and Bury benches during their 1-1 draw on Saturday.

The brawl followed the 45th-minute dismissal of Lincoln striker Anthony Elding and was included in referee Chris Sarginson's match report.

Elding was shown a red card after tangling with Bury's Ryan Cresswell and will now serve a three-match ban.

Cresswell was cautioned for his part in the initial altercation.

Elding will miss matches against Darlington, Barnet and Notts County.

Imps manager Peter Jackson told BBC Radio Lincolnshire: "I thought he deserved only a yellow. It was a flash reaction, completely out of character."

Jackson also felt that referee Sarginson should have given the same punishment to Cresswell as he did to Elding, who had been shown a yellow card moments before the incident.

He said: "If both had got automatic red cards I'd have understood, but not to give one red and the other yellow when the initial foul was by the Bury defender."
