Grimsby have agreed to sign former loan striker Michael Coulson on a two-year deal, subject to him passing a medical.
The 22-year-old joined the Mariners on loan from Barnsley in November 2009 and scored five goals in 29 appearances for the Lincolnshire side.
Having been released by the Tykes at the end of the season, Coulson was free to join the relegated League Two club.
Woods told the club website: "He was excellent last season and there's a lot more to come for him."
The deal will be completed on 1 July.
