Crewe manager Dario Gradi has confirmed that the club are working to extend the loan spell of young Chelsea goalkeeper Rhys Taylor.
Taylor, 20, has made six appearances for the Alex having been signed as cover for the injured Steve Phillips.
"He's keen to stay and I'm keen for him to stay, the question is on what basis," Gradi told BBC Radio Stoke.
"He's done well, he's very quick and he keeps the ball out of the net which is a good start."
Gradi believes an extension would suit all parties.
"Chelsea have been tracking him and they're pleased with him, they're pleased with us and he's happy here," he said.
The Crewe is looking to keep Taylor despite the fact that Phillips, 32, could recover from his shoulder injury in time to play this month.
"I'd like his for as long as possible but I don't want to trap him should he lose his place to Steve Phillips," he said.
"Steve Phillips is on schedule, doing goalkeeping work with Paul Anthrobus who does goalkeeping coaching for the academy so he's nearly there.
"That'll give me three goalkeepers to choose from."
In addition to Taylor and Phillips, Gradi can also call upon youngster Ben Garratt who made his debut for England Under-17s last week.
