Jersey Bulls moved up to second in Isthmian League South Central with a 2-0 win at struggling AFC Stoneham.

Sammy Henia-Kamau had an effort saved after 18 minutes having broken through on goal, before James Sunley's second goal of the season put Jersey in front nine minutes later as he got on the end of Casey Nixon's low ball from the right.

Henia-Kamau and Bickley had efforts saved in quick succession soon after, while the hosts went close just before the break when Jim Orvis blazed wide.

Sunley almost doubled the lead six minutes after the restart when his low effort was saved after good work down the left by Jay Giles.

Bulls twice almost conceded as the second half went on - James Johnson broke clear but his 65th-minute effort came back off the post, while Duarte Martins headed an 80th-minute effort off the upright.

But Lorne Bickley calmed any nerves when the Bulls striker forced in a low effort in the 89th minute to take his tally to six goals in his past four appearances.

The win extended the island side's unbeaten run in the Isthmian League to 26 games - a sequence that goes back to 30 December.

They are eight points behind leaders Bognor Regis Town with two games in hand.
